Shopping in Geneva

Hi,

Another question from a newcomer - where do people shop in Geneva? Are there anything like walmarts or tagets, or is it just small shops? What about Factory Outlets around geneva or nearby France?

I can't imagine that all swiss people make enough money to afford the clothes from the shops in the central Geneva.

What about food - is Migros and the other chain (I forgot the name) the only alternatives?
I heard about street markets, but i haven't seen them yet... are they cheaper? better?

Thank you.

I know a lot of people do shop in the center, there are plenty of price friendly shops for ordinary people. But of course if u go across the border you have more choices. Factory outlets? I guess there are only a few in the french speaking part. For sports wear I go to Nike and Adidas outlets next to Ikea, which is 20 mins by train from Geneva. If you are a fashion victim I suggest you to plan a trip to italy or a place called Fox town near Lugano.

Yes, always Migros and Coop in my case.
I know there are open markets on saturday morning where you can get vegetables, meat and flowers. They are more expensive than what you could get from the supermarket according to my experience, but of course, they re fresh and have better qualities.

Thank you so much.
Could you give me the addresses for the stores that you mentioned in the post?
