Do they have a sales season here in CH?

I'm looking to buy a couch and wondering if it's worth waiting for the sales season. Do they exist here (or Deutschland) like the UK for instance when huge discounts are available every Jan?

Twice a year in summer and winter are the big sales.
You've just missed the summer one.

There are often bargains to be had outside if these periods if you happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Re: Do they have a sales season here in CH?

Things work a little differently in Switzerland. There are 2 months a year when things are correctly priced - usually just after summer and just after Christmas.

For the rest of the year everything is priced at twice as high as it should be. This is done to discourage consumerism and was proposed by the Social Democratic Green People's Party in response to high import duties on hemp sandles.

Sometimes you can find good prices from the exhibits space at IKEA.

Re: Do they have a sales season here in CH?

Hi,

electronics are cheaper all year round and Interdiscount seems to frequently have days where they reduce their prices by 10%,

In the past sales were much more strictly controlled and so you would seen signs such as "officially approved sales" and they were limited to certain times of the year. Now they are much more frequent.

Have fun

Martin

Re: Do they have a sales season here in CH?

Switzerland follows the normal European sales schedule in January and July, but they only mark things down around 30%. I have much better luck in Lyon and Paris. I take the train for a weekend and do my twice yearly shopping. France knows how to do sales. Everything is 70% off. Well worth the price of the TGV and the hotel.
