You just need to find a financially solvent replacement.
Indeed. Fine one who's financially soluble instead and that whole spilt tea thing might become problematic.

Seems logical enough. I'm getting old and have to make an effort to keep up with the young folks' lingo. Will add that to my list and try to use it in everyday situations now and again.

I would not bother if I were you. It's like middle-age, balding men trying to keep a pony-tail to look cool, they don't!

I think the next innovation in mariage contracts is the "Limited Term Mariage Contract". You define a 10years contract will all the terms and conditions including how to split assets, pets and who gets to take care of the kids. If at year 9 of the marriage both parties want to continue then they renew it for another 10years if not they split according to the terms and everyone is happy (except divorce lawyers).
that's not an innovation, pre-islamic arabs did this and it has been integrated in islamic marital law too (in the twelver shia denomination), it's called nikah mut'ah.

I disagree.
-The "nika7 al mut3ah" was designed for a few hours or few days certainly not 10years.
- "Nika7 al mut3ah" does not give rights if any to the temporary spouse.

Nika7 al mut3ah is being used by ISIS to justify sexual slaves etc... It's a total nonsense.

Re: Where did all the gentlemen go?

It is my understanding sunnis consider mutah forbidden, in fact some isis sympathizers on the web insult shias calling them devil worshippers born of mutah and stuff like that.
Anyway i read it on wikipedia and it seemed well sourced but I'm not an expert so..

Only an unattractive, socially awkward and unwanted woman will say something like this. I´m willing to bet that you were one of those ignored bad-looking girls in school that never got a chance to date the cool guys

Are you using equality/feminism as an excuse for being ugly?
Isn't this the kind of bullshit the red pillers and readers of the game push?

You seem stuck on the idea of this "cock carousel." But you have not mentioned what the slut-shaming term is for young, single men getting out there having sex with diverse women before settling down. "Ferris wheel of vagina" maybe? "Poosy fun-house"? I assume there is one, right?
Google "the red pill." Ignore the sites referring to the matrix, and read the intro on Reddit or Business Insider.

I've never worn a ponytail, though it does get long enough from time to time.

Our mayor does, however, and some of my friends.

There's something faintly patronising about being described - or wanting to be described - as a "gentleman". Surely it is enough to practise decent, considerate behaviour towards everyone you encounter - male or female - rather than ostentatiously demonstrating "impeccable manners" to all the women you come across, like some kind of fossil with a trilby and umbrella.

In a nutshell: don't act like a dick. Isn't that enough?

I beg to differ.. cannot agree with your statement.
Describing a man as a gentleman is a genuine compliment.

Addendum

Not quite sure what the definition of a gentleman is.. though you've pretty much covered it.
I'll add
- Quiet appreciation of a woman's company
- Small but significant gestures meant just for her
- Politeness and respect
- Genuine concern for her well-being

It doesn't make a lesser man, it just enhances the qualities of a gentleman.

Re: Where did all the gentlemen go?

Probably so. But DB's point was fun. And true, too. I think it does depend on the motives, but even if they are shallow and somebody would hold a door for me just to feel all good about himself....I don't really care. It's nice to have person hold the door for me, be attentive. (just like I would do it for anyone, really)

Do you think that men hold the door to make us feel special, or themselves ?

....and yes definitely DB's point is

I agree that I always like to be recognised and complimented as a "gentleman", but your added qualifications (above) relate exclusively to dealings with women. I don't think that gentlemanly behaviour is limited solely to interactions with women. "Gentlemen's clubs" would have collapsed decades ago if that were the case -- and knowing which tie to wear in the Members' Enclosure at Lord's is more the mark of a true gentleman than seating a female companion at dinner.

Re: Where did all the gentlemen go?

Certainly.. but then again, from a woman's perspective, I cannot possibly comment as we're not allowed to attend. Thus your description of a "Gentleman's Club" is a part that we do not know.

Nor I... I have to admit that my description of a "Gentleman's Club" came purely from my imagination. I can't think of a worse idea than spending hours of each day in the exclusive company of stuffy men of a "certain age"!

But of course, I stand by my assertion that choice of the correct accessories is the defining mark of a gentleman.

Re: Where did all the gentlemen go?

Interestingly, I only use the term 'gentlemen' as an ironic insult.

If dealing with a complete idiot or buffoon at work or in a public situation, I'll usually refer to the unruly/aggressive/combative individual as "the gentlemen/that gentlemen etc" It always get their blood boiling and some smiles and giggles from those who have to deal with them. (especially if it is a female).

... yet, oddly, the same ironic gesture applied to women just doesn't work -- probably because far too many people use the term "lady" in everyday parlance to mean "woman" -- even unironically when the woman in question is acting in a far from ladylike manner: "Hey, lady, I was here first! Don't push in (cut in line)!" or "I just saw a lady steal some lipstick!"

You wouldn't use the word "gentleman" for a man in similar circumstances, would you?
