Hello....just wondering [newbie looking for friends]

Hi Folks, I have recently arrived and although loving this adventure am feeling a bit like a fledgling in all aspects. We live in Steinmaur which seems a bit of a sleepy hollow. Does anyone know of any artists nearby who might like to go painting en plein air or where I could join a group for some company. I paint in oils. Have an e- bike( yes I know that`s cheating!) and the will to travel.

Re: Hello....just wondering.

Hi and welcome! I know exactly how you feel, I greatly miss being around other creatives. I recently joined a meet-up group, they meet (unfortunately not so often) at different locations to draw/ paint. Look @ meetup.com/Paper_pencil_caffeine.

I haven't looked on a map where you live yet but the name hasn't rung a bell, mind you my geography in this country is almost non-existent (I put it down to too many mountains interfering with my sense of direction )

Funnily enough I was just about to put an ad to see if anyone knew of a group supporting spaces/ studios for artists where I live.

Good luck in finding fellow artists. I go out sketching quite a bit so if you live close by we could meet and draw/ paint.

Hi Steph in zug, Thank you for the lovely warm welcome and your advice. I will have a look at the sketching group and see if it is possible to join. I think Steinmaur is a bit far from Zug unfortunately but maybe we will meet at Paper Pencil caffeine sometime. Happy to keep in contact.

Hi Nunewby!
Welcome to the forum, and good luck with the painting.
I really do hope that Steinmaur isn't such a 'Sleepy Hollow', that could be a very scary place to live.

Steinmaur to Zug is a one hour's trip, with only one or two changes... perhaps quite worth it, if you have shared interests.

Ha ha and Hello to you too. I haven`t seen any headless horsemen yet so maybe will have to take back the "Sleepy Hollow" part.......perhaps will do so after Halloween.

Thank you, I am looking forward to exploring Zug in any case. I have heard it is also a very pretty place to visit.

What Halloween? If it's as sleepy as you suggest I doubt the American import has reached it yet.

Hi, I found meetup to be the best way to meet new people. Have been to few events and enjoyed a lot. Also register for Internaitons and Exatica communities , that will help you to get to know people with similar interest.

Re: Hello....just wondering [newbie looking for friends]

Hello there! I understand how you feel. At first when I came here I discovered that it takes a while to find friends so I did a few things to get connected in general and also based on passions/common interests: I went to explore different groups on www.meetup.com. My favorites are "Zürich fun indoor and outdoor activities" this led to so many cool meet ups and events. Then there are some for singer songwriters and musicians (which is what I am). All you have to do is put some search words in and you will see people doing things together probably painting for example Welcome here. Don't hesitate to write anytime to me if you'd like to connect.

Re: Hello....just wondering [newbie looking for friends]

Hallo I found "Zürich fun indoor and outdoor activities" to be great group with different activates running and you can chose what to attend. Enjoyed a Vietnamese food with them and unfortunately, missed some hiking events due to travels. An advised I got from a friend - join groups, activities even if you are not that interested in them, you never know who will you meet. Just do not stay at home, nobody will knock at your door
