a pricey lens
Worth every Rappen. Coupled with the 5DS R at 50mp, killer combo.

Sky not so clear, but managed these...

Excuse my ignorance but what is "+2x III", some sort of intermediate lens? I tried Google but it did not help.

My best effort attached; looks a bit pathetic compared to yours.

You did well. It turned so dark I had a lot of trouble even finding it in the pumpkin phases.

That is an optical teleconverter (TC), also called an extender, that doubles the focal length of the lens it is attached to, which is not all lenses. It also doubles any faults of the lens it's attached to, so you only want to use it with better lenses. What it did for me in this instance is double my 100-400L II out to 200-800mm/ More about it here:

Re: Blood Moon Photography/Moon eclipse

Thanks for all the pics everyone! Not posting mine because they didn't turn out that well, in real life it looked really red from here. Was so cool, well worth braving the 4 degree chill on the balcony for! In fact the chill, quiet and still just added to the spooky effect!

I've been enjoying the supermoon this weekend and the super blood moon was really special. So glad I saw it

You get the chance again in 2033, and if you will settle for a Lunar eclipse only without the Supermoon, you just have to wait until 31 January 2018, and be in Asia, Australia, or North America

I really wanted to observe this but unfortunately I missed it. For those who have seen it, it must have been a great experience right?

Re: Blood Moon Photography/Moon eclipse

managed to shoot this with my Canon 60D on 18-135 mm lens
no comparison with J_T's pro shots, but his settings he shared helped me and was happy with the result:
