Blood Moon Photography/Moon eclipse

So... Tonight there is a combined Supermoon and Blood moon. I think about going to bed early, get up at 2.00 am, and go out and take pictures of it.

Before I set off, I would like to know, where the moon will be, how it will move and so on. I spent about an hour and found out, the moon rises at 18:58 at 91 degrees, and sets again tomorrow morning at 7:31 at 273 degrees. I downloaded 2 different android apps, and none could tell me, in which direction and how high the moon would be when the bloodmoon starts at ca. 2:00.

Does anybody know an Android app, that can predict moon position and degree over the horizon ? ( i tried 2 already, but they were not good enough)
That will make it easier for me to either find a lake with mirror effect, a mountain, castle ruin or similar.

Then we just need a little less clouds on the sky, and I should be ready :-)

Doc.

Re: Blood Moon Photography

Some weather apps have a section with moon phases and other detail.
I used to use on that included a widget to set a transparency on home screen.
I'm not using android any more, and can,t remember which one it was, unfortunately.

..... and as I understand, I think between 4 & 5 is the optimum time to view the Pfingstermond.

Re: Blood Moon Photography

For Zürich, the eclipse starts around 3.00am and ends around 6:30am, with totality occupying the central third. At the start (3.00am) the moon will be quite high in the south, and at the end (6:30am) the moon will be quite low in the south-west.

Re: Blood Moon Photography

Thanks a lot. South to South West sounds great.

Then Regensberg is off the list, and Zürichberg and Kyburg added. :-)

It was worth it, but looked more grey when viewed with the naked eye.
