Ha ha ha this made me laugh out loud.
A male colleague once explained to me the secret rule that men use to work out the age of the person they should be dating. Apparently it is half their age plus 7 years and that gives the target age range. I was horrified to work the calculation back the other way..... there is a 76 year old out there somewhere who is trying to date me.... eeeeeek
Secret rule??!! This is public scripture where I come from. The secret is on how to break the rule (of course for guys over 22)

yes go to Basel. At your workplace you will meet people. And if you are not fully intraverted then you will meet others outside of the workplace. Here is something to read but in German.

Hello everyone,

I have a job offer in Basel that looks pretty interesting and well paid in a Big pharma. Looks like a good professional opportunity. I can also explore other positions with my current company in bigger cities (Paris, London, maybe NY) but I will then continue my current workaholic and constant traveler lifestyle.

I have lived in Paris, London and São Paulo, and have been living in Geneva for 4 months. I find it very nice, lots of nature, etc. but a bit boring.
I spent half a day in Basel, the city looked nice but everyone I met (at the Big Pharma company) seemed to be married with kids, who liked the comfort and the money.

My question is: is Basel a decent city for single guys in their late 20s?
Are there enough bars / places to go out, ways to meet people, young single people, etc. ? Compared to Geneva, is it significantly more quiet or similar?
If there is any single guy who moved here from a big city, what do you think?

Sincerely interested in your thoughts, since it can really impact whether I take the job or not...

Thank you

L

Re: Moving to Basel when single: good idea or suicide?

Came to Basel 3 years ago at 23yo, met my missus who's from NZ a month later and we're happy out living here for now anyway. Its easy to complain about any city you live in but theres really nothing important to give out about in Basel.

I do wish we got more snow though
