royal mail deliveries to switzerland

hello everyone.
hope you all had an amazing summer i did for sure here in switzerland apart from the annoying flies

anyway back to the important question

i am thinking of ordering a pair of shoes from a uk sports site named wiggle. the shoes are sent free of charge ( untracked royal airmail to switzerland and the shoes cost 102chf

does anyone know if i will still be charged customs and taxes or admin fees? here in switzerland when receiving them?

bare in mind as its untracked there will be no signing for the package..but i still think the parcel will have the sticker royal mail puts on it stating the value

what do you all think?thanks

Postman will want you to pay before giving you the shoes over.

How much? It varies. Make sure there is a receipt in the parcel so they know that the company isn't putting a low value down. The admin fee will probably be the killer. I'd expect at least 20CHF. Depends on who inspects it and what exchange rate they are using on that day.

Somethig like that. Probably nearer 30 though.

If you're not in or can't pay the postie, then the parcel will be taken to post-office for you to pay and collect from there.

Yes. Wiggle remove UK VAT but don't pay the Swiss import fees for you;

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/h/option/international

TAX, DELIVERY AND DESPATCH INFORMATION FOR SWITZERLAND

When shopping for delivery to Switzerland we will automatically:

Remove British 20% VAT.
.
.
.
Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes, which may be levied once a shipment reaches your country. For more information please click here.

Order them bikester.ch instead ..

Thanks for the replies

What a pity. I thought that due to the parcel being sent untracked that there wouldn't be any controls or charges or anything . Thought it would be the case of getting charged only if the parcels were sent recorded with Royal Mail or via courier but seems I get charged even with non recorded Royal Mail

Hope your all right

You may get lucky and the parcel doesn't get checked but on the other hand you may not. They don't physically select every untracked parcel to be checked and we've had plenty that have slipped through without fees even though they were above the limit.
You can't rely on that happening though and should always allow for the possibility of paying the import fees when deciding whether it's worthwhile making the order or not.

I've ordered hundreds of parcels here and just can't remember if I was ever charged. Blame it on my memory lol

Re: royal mail deliveries to switzerland

Wiggle = import charges.

SWMBO orders from them - mainly when they have stuff on discount. Net/Net after removal UK VAT and then import charges - as long as you order over 100chf - you tend to be about the same as the UK price - which is usually a lot lower than Switzerland.
