Where is the chocolate experience? The ultimate chocolate thread!

I read in the Tribune de Genève (local newspaper) that despite all the advertising at Geneva Airport of how many tons of chocolate the Swiss eat yearly, Geneva fails to capitalise on the potential touristic attraction of the said product.
So I thought we, at EF, ought to give them a hand, as I'm sure we more than did our share of chocolate tasting...only as part of our extensive integration programme, of course!

So here's a few addresses for Geneva. Personally, I find the chocolate covered almonds from Auer a rare treat!

For those of you who speak French, this link is for a chocolate connoisseur club where they seem to have a good programme of activities and discoveries...I quite like the idea of the "all chocolate dinner" on 11th December!

Finally, for the ultimate chocolate treat, a chocolate massage, one place in Charmay and one in Lucerne seem to be offering this very decadent treat...I personally could not do it, I'd end drinking from the bathtub!

There is a great chocolatier you can visit in Noiraigue (NE) 2 mins walk from the station and easily combined with a walk down the Gorges de L'Areuse to pick up the train at Champ-du-Moulin after a great lunch at La Truite - and a night at the newly restored Hôtel there and continue the walk down the Gorges all the way to Boudry by Lake Neuchâtel. Or a great but streneous hike up the 14 contours to the massive limestone circle of Creux-du-Van, where you can have a great lunch at Le Soliat farm, and then sleep there, in a Yourte if desired- and continue the next day down the other side via Ferme Robert, another great old Farm-restaurant and return to Noiraigue, where jacot have a great restaurant next to the Station. Don't forget to buy a bottle or two of local absinthe of course- they have a huge selection at the station shop, as well as spoons, glasses, etc.

They make handmade top quality chocolate made only with cocoa butter and the best criollo chocolate from Nicaragua and Madagascar (cheaper chocolate comes from Ghana), Oh and absinthe chocolates of course

You can visit the shop and buy without reservation, or you can do a guided visit with a tasting and talk at the end- or an even better visit where the chocolatier will give you a talk and tasting, each chocolate teamed up with one of the best Neuchâtel wine. Minimum size 15 per group (we did a visit for 6 recently with friends from the US and paid the full group price as my (rich) cousin decided at the last minute!).

there is a boutique on line btw. If you ever want to do a visit but short of a few people, just tell be a bit in advance and I'll get others to join you.

You can also get back on the train and go on 2 stops and visit the famous 'Mines d'asphalte' where you can eat ham baked in asphalt just as the miners used to, after the visit, or keep going another 2 stops and visit the lovely village of Môtiers where you have a choice of 3 and soon 4 Museums, one on Mauler 'champagne' in an old Clunisian Abbey, La Maison de l'Absinthe all about the history of the Green Fairy in the region, in the 18C building that houses the local court where the bootleggers used to be judged and sentenced (happy to do guided visit), a Museum of .... aboriginal art and vintage cars - and soon the revamped local Museum in a magnificent Renaissance house which will tell the story of Peasant artisanal watch making in the area, and also (Sundays only) a small Museum about the famous French philoshopher, Rousseau, who lived there for some time when kicked out of France. Also in the village, several absinthe distilleries you can visit, Bovet, Racine and a few more, and the great restaurant, in the Medieval old Town Hall, Les Six Communes.

Well of course the beauty about chocolate is that it goes with almost everything, except some meats.

And it goes with itself in probably the best way. Different types of chocolate in one bite. Omg folks.

Game changer. Instant satisfaction from the tummy. Fantastic when I was sailing.

Heaps of raw power. Again loved it on the yachts.

CHOCOLATE

Does anyone know if you can get special Halloween chocolates here? I hate going shopping in Geneva, so I'd rather find out where then go straight there!
