Since I am a bit of a mongrel myself this word "HOME" as always interested me....and since we are all foreigners here of one specie or another... what is home to you?

Is it where you live now?
Where you lived before coming here?
Where you grew up?
or maybe somewhere else?

and just by the way... home for me as much as any is a place I've never really lived..... ^

Mrs G and I have a cottage in Cornwall ( s.w. England ) and that is one place I "feel" at home even more than the place I grew up.

Re: Home ? =

I feel @ home I guess in a few different places, but in different ways of feeling "at home"
I feel at home when I'm comforted by surroundings and the familiarity of places whether it be at a friends cottage or my parents house with the aroma of moms cooking! When I think of *home* I think of a place where I feel at rest with myself, which is well, yeah at my parents house.

I owned my home in Canada with my EX, for almost 4 years..and looking back that place never actually felt like HOME. (ha, shoulda seen that sign sooner I guess!)

and I can't lie....I don't really feel at *home* here. I'm not quite comfortable here yet, it's coming slowly...but I really don't feel too at rest here, it's too new. Of course, once I get my crap together and hang some pics up of family and friends, some pics from my travels that inspire *happy* memories, maybe then I can feel a bit more at home.

did that make sense? this coffee is actually making me a bit wacky this morning.

I've lived in two countries, spent a significant amount of time in another and have land elsewhere, lived in nine different homes, have had two kids, five cats, a dog, and one husband...and as corny as this sounds---after 26 years of marriage, where ever I am in the world, my "home" is in my husband's arms. The rest is immaterial.

Home is different things. If I think of home, as in a country, then it's Australia.

Home where I live, well, it's here in St Louis. And I do feel at home here..... but then I also feel at home in a lot of places, but home for now is here!

Re: Home ? =

I still own property on some of the many places where I have lived in the past, but home is here (until we move to somewhere else which will then become our new "home").

Having lived in various parts of the globe I feel ZERO attachment to any place/country. So where ever I place my ass becomes home to me

home ?

"home" ... it's one of those words that people use here and it confuses me at times.

I was born in Canada, and raised in the states. I've lived here for 10 years married to my English wife and we have a home in Cornwall... so which one of those is "home"? I'm not really sure.

how about you kids?

where is home?

Re: home ?

I've relocated too early to too many places thus leaving me without a real home or a place which I could call home.

Re: home ?

Born in Switzerland, raised in the US and Canada, where I lived for 25 years. Now back in Switzerland for the last 17 years.

Over there I feel Swiss. Here I feel Canadian.

Where is home?

Where favourite pillow is.

Re: home ?

Lee Marvin's song sums my idea of home:

I was born under a wanderin' star.
I was born under a wanderin' star.

Wheels are made for rollin', mules are made to pack.
I've never seen a site that didn't look better lookin' back.

I was born under a wanderin' star.

Mud can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry.
Snow can burn your eyes but only people make you cry.
Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to.
Which with any luck will never come true.

I was born under a wanderin' star.
I was born under a wanderin' star.

Do I know where hell is, hell is in hell-o.
Heaven is good-bye forever it's time for me to go.

I was born under a wanderin' star, a wanderin', wanderin' star.

Mud can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry.
Snow can burn your eyes but only people make you cry.
Home is made for comin' from, for dreams of goin' to.
Which with any luck will never come true.

I was born under a wanderin' star.
I was born under a wanderin' star.

When I get to heaven tie me to a tree.
Or I'll begin to roam and soon you'll know where I will be.

I was born under a wanderin' star.
A wanderin', wanderin' star.
