Thanks a lot to both of you! I will give it a go tomorrow.

One question though - will the chemicals work if the clog is behind the "trapway", where the water do not reach (http://www.ultimate-handyman.com/wp-...ut-diagram.jpg)?
IIRC from the pharmacist the chemicals are heavier than water so sink beneath the water level to do their job. Perhaps someone with physics knowledge can help you out on the details though?

Some of the chemicals have scatophilic properties, meaning that the molecules contained therein actively seek large blockages in the pipe in order to break them down.

They're quite clever with what they can make chemicals do these days. Some of them are probably sentient.

F_it, it's called Rorax and you can find it in the Co-op. Put it in your drainage channels overnight, and all will be better the next morning:

Various places sell snakes.

I have a couple you could borrow, but you'd have to come collect them (plus I'd have to find them)

Re: Clogged toilet (paper towels)

forget chemicals. Just wait a half hour or so to let them get settled in. 9/10 the water will slowly run out. Then flush again. if still nothing , with the toiletbowl full of water jam the toiletbrush in there and rip the paper apart while pushing it down the toilet. the pressure from the water will suck it right down. if you have "stuff"in there just wear gloves.....unless you do not mind

Never throw paper towels down the toilet. They do not rip apart when flushing....

This has saved me countless times and has yet to fail. and I have this issue in my bar about 2x a night......
