Clogged toilet (paper towels)

Yes, I am retarded. I discarded a bunch of paper towels into the toilet and I ended up with water flushing really slowly.

My question is - in which shop in Bern can I get a proper toilet auger to fix this mess? How is it even called in German?

Do I have a chance with some toilet-cleaning chemicals from Migros/Coop or do you suggest any better place to shop for that?

Nice first post. I'm sure Plumtree and Frank Sinatra will be along shortly with some helpful advice...

Oh dear! You might have to fish them out by hand. It's probably best not to flush again until they (or most of them) have been removed!

In future don't place too many in the toilet at once, otherwise it will clog.

Nice first post. .
Trust me, I never wanted my activity on this forum to start this way .

Already got through the "yuk" phase and tried to reach them with my hand, but apparently they are already too deep, so before calling a plumber an auger or drain cleaners are my best options. Unfortunatelly I know nothing about Swiss chemicals and hence I hoped for some hints/names.

Have you tried a regular plunger?

Re: Clogged toilet (paper towels)

If the towel is paper-based (i.e. organic) you can try pouring in draining product. It's not the most ecological solution but it should eat through the paper.

Re: Clogged toilet (paper towels)

My toilet has quite a weird shape, so I assumed plunger won't even fit it. Looking from above:

clogged-toilet-paper-towels-wc.png

I'm afraid that no plunger would seal it nicely.

And once that's done you can start putting paper and 'other things' down it again and flushing regularly.

Re: Clogged toilet (paper towels)

Try popping a couple of biting rats down there to chew through the paper.
I may be able to suggest a source.

If you have any wire coathangers you can have a poke around with one of them stretched out and twisted into a hook.

Try the plunger anyway, and if you can't get it out there are many different liquid drain cleaners like
a) Migros home brand version 1 and 2
b) rorax (can be found in Coop)
c) rohrvit (can be found in pharmacies/drogeries

This is what you are looking for:

https://produits.migros.ch/potz-xper...l-502038800000

You'll find some version of it in any supermarket. Leave it in for a full night before attempting to flush. It's super corrosive, so whatever you do, don't put your hands in there afterwards!

Thanks a lot to both of you! I will give it a go tomorrow.

One question though - will the chemicals work if the clog is behind the "trapway", where the water do not reach (http://www.ultimate-handyman.com/wp-...ut-diagram.jpg)?
