Well im a little bit awkward but not in a crazy way, i always tend to cover it with my good sence of humor. But do you understand where i come from is not like that i never had friend who is 5 years older than me. And im not some crazy weirdo. Its just how im. I dont have that adittude to come and random talk to people.

There is nothing else to say except to advise you to go to expat events and talk to people and get to know them in a safe and controlled environment where there will be other people int he same situation as you. Anything else in this thread is just a waste of time.

Go to Kennedys Irish pub in Zurich on Saturday. There are bound to be a few fun people to talk to. Albeit they will all have funny accents.
Around about 4pm should be good.

i tought we would be best friends...
I can only repeat what I said on here once before.
Quote:

Except in Kindergarten (in 1944), I don't think I've ever 'looked for friends'.
Nearly all my friends are Swiss and we got to know each other through mutual interests. However, often the things we do together now are not the interests we originally shared. (The years take their toll). The couple of English speaking friends I have are not friends because they are expats or because they speak English, but because they have the same sense of humour as I do.
To add to this, the new Swiss friends I have made in the last few years were formed simply be being in the right place at the right time. And the right place surely wasn't sitting at home lamenting my lack of someone to talk to.

Well its same with me, im shy first 5 min after that im like i know you forever. And im very very funny person and i get along easy with people.
.
One more suggestion OP.
Language classes, or any other kind of classes....really. You will meet people from all over the world and I am absolutely sure that there will be at least 2 or 3 persons worth meeting again and who might be bolder than you....and anyway its easier to connect with people in that kind of environment. Try to think positively.

Having a sense of humour sounds wonderful but you need to find people who have a similar one. There are quite a few forms of humour which I just don't find particularly amusing - certainly not enough to make me listen to the 'jokes'.
And the age bit - most of my friends are quite a bit younger than I am. The average age is a lot lower than my own - partly of course because the grim reaper has his hand in it. A couple of friends are roughly the same age as our children and, to the amusement of all concerned, Mr. L and I are sometimes asked if we are their parents.
Go out. Stop looking for friends but look for people with similar interests. And be prepared to find new interests as well. Enjoy new challenges. Onward and upward.

Re: Feeling lonely

Maybe you need to find 'friends' who also come from your country and will think you 'the funny person' too. There is nothing wrong with having contact with folk from the place you grew up in unless you do it to the exclusion of all others. It's definitely the Brits on here who understand my humour best! The groans are from the others!

Re: Feeling lonely

Maybe if you want friends and not a fan-club you'll have to change your tactics. Being the life and soul of the party isn't your goal, or is it?
And please check this out before you reply that you don't go to parties...

Why im lonely? Because i dont go out, i have no friends here. I dont go to bars, party ect. And why i dont go, beacuse i have no one to go with. And i never went alone anywhere. I dont practice that. Why people think i want a fan club? I dont want i just want normal friend to hang out with. If that is to much to ask then i dont know.

Are you scared to go out alone? Switzerland is very safe.

Maybe you can go to some singles event and find a nice boyfriend to go out with?

FFS, how do you think the rest of us made friends here?

Most of us knew nobody when we first came to Switzerland, but instead of incessantly whining about it, we got off our arses and did something about it.

You've been given several great ideas on this thread and a ton of reassurance yet you're still here whinging about being lonely.

What more do you want from us?
