WG personal address

I just moved to Zurich and now need to arrange my new address.
Because i live in a WG with one more person, what format should my new address be ? Do i need to mention something particular or just my name and street/town as usual ?

Sorry if it's a stupid question....

Thanks.

Re: WG personal address

It depends if you want the postman and other people to find you. At the very least you could print out your name and stick this onto the mail box, and door bell label.

Re: WG personal address

You'll have your own letterbox with your name on it - the agency/landlord/verwaltung will insist on a particular style and organise it for you, but you'll have to pay their price.

So once you have a name on your box, you can see there's no need for anything other than the house and street address, and that is indeed the case.

Sometimes it may take a day or ten to get the nameplate sorted, so just use a sticky label of some sort until it is done.

Re: WG personal address

Sorry.. I did not make myself very clear.
Yes I already placed a sticky label with my name in the letter box of the apartment where I live.

But the address that I give to my employer, insurances, etc. etc. is simply my name and the usual street no and town, right ? I don't need to say that I'm staying by this or that guys..... ?!

Thanks again.

I thought I'd already said that. Yes, just the street and number for an address is all that's normally required.

Re: WG personal address

If your own name is on the letterbox, your address - that you give to other people - should have this format:

Firstname Surname
Streetname Number-in-Street
Postcode Townname

for example:
Maria Larrabella
Bucherstrasse 119
8001 Zürich

To clarify for others who may be reading this thread, if your own name is not on the letterbox, but only the name of the person from whom you are subletting, your address should be given as:

Maria Larrabella
c/o Schmied
Bucherstrasse 119
8001 Zürich

Exceptions are where the flats in a block have individual numbers, but this is not very common. In that case, best to ask your neighbours or the local post office which of these formats is used:

Maria Larrabella
Bucherstrasse 119
Wohnung 5
8001 Zürich

or
Maria Larrabella
Bucherstrasse 119/5
8001 Zürich
