Christmas music stations?

This is probably just a US thing, but are there any terrestrial radio stations in Switzerland that are playing Christmas music 24 hours a day? Please note the verb in my sentence---"are". I don't mean in a few weeks a week before the holiday. I mean right now on December 2nd. Thanks!

Yes, it is a US thing. They play the same 12 Christmas carols 24/7, some of them in several versions ("Iiiiiiiiiiii'm dreeeeeeaming of a (yawn) whiiiiiiite Chreeeeestmas" through "I'm friggin' dreaming of a mootherfooking white Christmas").

There must be an agreement between those guys and the phychiatrists' associations.

No such thing in Switzerland. It's against human rights.

With so many music channels over the Internet, why would you need a terrestrial radio station?

Or any other shopping centre for that matter.

I had a discussion about this with an assistant ( because assistants are friendly and chatty around these parts) in a jewellery store just this evening. As 'fairytale of New York' came on she rolled her eyes and said 'not again'! She said it had only started on Tuesday but the shop workers are talking about clubbing together to buy them another CD just for a bit of variety.

Re: Christmas music stations?

Web radio!!! I'd suggest Pandora but I am not sure it works in Switzerland. I am sure there are others. Jingle all the way!!!

Yes, I am one of those people who loves Christmas music 24/7, but I draw the line at waiting to start only after Thanksgiving I can't look at/listen to Christmas stuff before then, it's just wrong...

Re: Christmas music stations?

1. Download Spotify for free. Download Spotifree to black ads.

or

If you pay the subscription, you don't need the Spotifree ad blocker.

2. Look up the Happy Holiday selection and you are set to dream of a white Christmas to your heart's content in the styles of pop, classical, country, hip hop, acoustic, jazzy, etc.

I am not well-versed in Spotify, but you might be able to make your own list, too.

Especially since Swiss long-wave was halted 5-10 years ago.

Re: Christmas music stations?

Just want to clarify---this question was simply out of curiosity since I'm not in Switzerland. I do now work for a company---Amazon.com---that sends out a lot of packages during Christmas time. When I go to work, there are two terrestrial radio stations---WASH-FM (Washington) and WLIF-FM (Baltimore) that now play Christmas music all day. For me, it perks me up a little before going to work, but I do occasionally flip the channel or turn it off.

As to why listen to a terrestrial station? Well, not everyone can afford the monthly fee for satellite radio. I may consider upgrading to satellite in 2016 if my financial circumstances improve.

Either way, I hope everyone either enjoys the holiday season, or at least manages to get through the holidays with their sanity and chequebook intact!

Before I let this topic die, I might as well post a link to a Christmas carol that is being played on Baltimore radio. Don't think it's getting airplay anywhere else in the country, not even Washington. Consider this song a Christmas wish from Maryland:

Re: Christmas music stations?

Well, I only listen to one station here because I find my other local ones either don't play music I like or are too much talk and not enough music. So I have Option Music on my DAB radios and they never play that much Christmas music at all. They do the occasional carol on the run up to Christmas, but that's all.
