Making exceptions for Sheikh Hamad of Qatar

They broke the night flight rule in Zürich and allowed the Arabs to land-and just because of a broken leg. But did the Arabs really need 3 planes just for a broken leg. Selling themselves out to these rich ALoch's. And these same people send millions to the IS terrorists

BFD.
Only a problem for those who live in the landing zone.
As his jets are quite new, I imagine they aren't that loud, either.

Did you get woken up?

Re: Making exceptions for the Arabs.

They probably didn't need three jets, but anyone who has a medical flight (REGA hospital jet flights for example) gets approval, so one jet would not really be a big deal.

Most people I know who live under the flight path said that they read about it in the papers and hadn't been woken. Looks like the media stoking up a storm...

Re: Making exceptions for the Arabs.

Sorry.
Can't get the hype around this one.
Bloke broke his leg. I bet he has a doctor walking a couple of steps behind him anyway.
Doctor saw, he could fix it, told him to go to the hospital.
His trusted hospital happens to be in Zurich.
And he doesn't travel with only carry-on baggage.

He asks and get's granted an exception to land at night.
So what?

Re: Making exceptions for the Arabs.

Funny, I can't quote Omtatsat's last message...

He could have gone to Kuwait, but as he is footing the bill on this himself he chose the place he wanted to go to. If I had the choice between a hospital in Kuwait and one in Zurich with a view of the lake and mountains I think the choice is a "no brainer".

If you have enough money to pay your own way you get to make the choices...

Anyway, the guy in the apartment next door who came home at 3am and then took a dump made far more noise.....

Re: Making exceptions for the Arabs.

I really don't see what the big deal is. One of the richest people in the World breaks his leg whilst on holiday in Morocco and chose to fly to a Swiss hospital for treatment with his entourage.

It's more money coming into the Swiss economy.

Why bother quoting someone who can't tell the difference between Saudi, Kuwait and Qatar

If he wouldn't have been allowed to land, he could have posted the ultimate first world problem on EF: "I broke my leg, wanted to fly to Switzerland for treatment with my 3 Jumbos but wasn't allowed to land".

Nine planes total, but only three were exceptions.

Re: Making exceptions for the Arabs.

What is the problem? That an exception was made to the night landing rule. (An event so insignificant that very few people care) Or that it was granted to 'the Arabs'?

According to Tages Anzeiger, the medical emergency in question was so significant that six more planes linked to the Qatari royal family and government landed in Zurich through the weekend

Exactly. When the majority of members of this forum are living in a country that wasn't their place of birth, it astonishes me that we still see racism and xenophobia.
