I'm an introvert and am being told all the time I need to become more extrovert *yawn* Too bad for them that I a) don't give a damn (I'm the "take-it-or-leave-it"-type) and b) can't change even if I wanted to. Can I stand in front of 100 people and present something? Yes. Do I thoroughly enjoy it? No. Am I shy? No. Do I have to speak out loud every freaking thought I have? Absolutely not.
If it were for me, I'd rather shut up than say something that has zero substance or just repeating what 15 people before me already said
Of course as it seems to be expected, I sometimes (i.e. 1 out of 10 times) "happily" repeat what those 15 others just said, just for the sake of having said something, of course finding it utterly ridiculous
Sadly, I work in an environment that is as American as can be, so Switzerland doesn't do it for me in that department
I dare say lack of enthusiasm is hardly the problem here. It's a think-first-then-act mentality and clearly, American mentality is the other way around. Disclaimer: as usual, there are exceptions.
