Perhaps you want to add this post to one of your other car-related ones so that everything is in one place and easier to find later in case you need it?

Yeap that is true , without the ad we cannot really advise you.

But I can say with certainty that all cars in Switzeraldn can be negotiated since the exchange rate gap between CHF and EUR closed down to 1.1

Good Luck and let us know if you need help by providing more details

My wife likes cars, however.

She's bought three in the past year!

Of course not!

I've forbidden her to buy any more vehicles without my permission.

Re: How much you can bargain for buying a car ?

It all depends on how much you want the car and how desperate the seller is. If he (or she) just got busted and needs money for a good lawyer you just might steal a deal. Otherwise just find things wrong with the car and point them out. Or tell em you saw the same car someplace else for so much cheaper. Make it up as you go!

You can bargain as much as you want but if you offer less then the asking price then clearly you arent interested and just trying to waste time

Re: How much you can bargain for buying a car ?

Used car dealers know every trick in the book. They also know how low they can go and still make a profit - the buyer knows neither of these.

The only "trick" is to locate the car you want via autoscout, decide what you are willing to pay, go to that dealer and look at a downmarket car that they have on the lot for 1K less than you are willing to spend on the car you do want. Go and look at the 2nd car and say "No, this one isn't as good as I was looking for... I was willing to spend "X-1K", what else have you got... oh, what about that one over there! Would you take X-1K for that?

The dealer will either give you kudos for knowing the secret handshake, or his kill instinct will be at WOT.

Your final move, after a bit more stagecraft, would be: "So, this one isn't what I was really looking for, but it isn't bad... would you take X and throw in some winter tires?"

Re: How much you can bargain for buying a car ?

Thats certainly not true because they all ask more than they are really worth. Especially east block sellers
