And no, you are not living in it

That's because they've never been to Sweden.

When I and several Swiss colleagues had to spend two weeks in Sweden, after one week we took over the client's kitchen to make some real food, as we were tired of the Swedish stuff.

I did the antipasto and main, my colleagues the fisrt course and dessert.

You don't like Surströmming? I've only heard about it but sure wonder why people torture themselves?

Before EU, Greece used to be in the top ranges

No...i think it's because they are humble. They choose the closest one in the list: Sweden obviously.

Re: Places with better quality of life

On a few recent trips to Barcelona & greater Catalunya, I was asked by no less than 4 different/random people on how great the quality of life must be in Switzerland.

I must admit, I was unprepared for the question - especially considering how impassioned they looked.

So, how did Swiss innards go down in Sweden - was it as great as your vegetarian chili (which was amazing btw)???

All change again ZuriRollt. Apparently I'm not flying to Athens today. Mother-out-law says she will be fine for three days, blah-di-blah...and she's roped all her neighbours in the call round to see her. It's complicated....

There's lies, damned lies, statistics, surveys and polls. I tend to wonder who these people that get asked actually are? I've never been asked and I bet most of the people on EF haven't either. I also have a few Swiss friends who've worked in Australia and didn't want to come back.

Completely stand by my belief that the perfect life is living in Greece on a Swiss wage.

Actually, I do, and even have a few cans in the fridge, but I've only eaten it in CH!

Hmmm. More likely just selected from a drop down list and did not select the right one!

I am always somewhat dubious over such surveys.. unless they are taken from people that have lived / are living in various countries. It would also be good to see them on various demographics e.g. single, family with your kids etc.

Surely it depends upon the type of life that you want, doesn't it?

Re: Places with better quality of life

If I could choose the best place to live, it was Toscana (Italy), it's because of the beauty of the place, much wine, farming areas, clean air and the healthy food. I've watched a documentary about Toscana, God! It's an incredeable region.
For me this city offers much quality of life.

Sorry about CH, it depends on the region in Switzerland, the german part, I think so as the better place to live, because Geneva... I don't agree. Many thefts and lies in this city.

Re: Places with better quality of life

I found the quality of life in Denmark to be exceptional! Similar in many ways to CH with a few pros and cons. I lived north of Copenhagen for ten years and loved the place and the people. Sometimes I think of moving back to DK, but then remember the 65% income tax and 25% VAT!!
