Because for every 10'000 points you have, people will bid about 140 francs.

Sod the catalogue. Take the money and transfer the points to someone else!!

10,000 points are only worth 100 francs, Why would anyone pay 140 francs, Is there something I should know about?

How do you transfer them, and is it legal? I really do not get why people bid more than 1:1; the premiums in the catalogue never seem a good deal!

You can currently also buy stuff in Coop (not sure if it's limited to Coop City in Zurich, and only non-food) with your Points; 100 points = 1 CHF.
