Hi there
Just wondering if anyone has any tips for parental activities on a rainy day? My boyfriends parents are visiting us in Zurich this weekend - and having planned to take them up siteseeing and hiking etc...I not don't think this is the best idea . It is due to rain the entire time they are here, which isn't great but i am sure there must still be things to do.
Does anyone have any tips?

Train trip to Basel Kunstmuseum.

my personal favourite is the transport museum in Luzern
or any museum in Zurich which is closer
though second closest and 2nd favourite is the Technorama (science museum) in Winti (winterthur)
and of course if its not raining, you can still go, or of course enjoy the mountains here

...and it's probably not legal, either...

Go to lots of pubs/bars and get drunk.

That's for kids! Arguably older kids as well, but I wouldn't take my mum there.......

I didn't think the weather-forecast is as bad as that - anyway it certainly won't rain the whole weekend (next week I'm hiding away if it did! )
You don't say where your boy-friends parents live!?! Might they be interested in the real Swiss folklore festival in Wädenswil on Sunday. Zürcher National costumes, dancing (the national-costume variety, plus Line-Dancing and a steel band too). Handwork, food...
If it poured at least you would have the satisfaction of seeing everyone else getting wet too.

His parents are coming from Kent in the UK, so there is no way the weather can be worse here anyway, I don't think. A real swiss folk festival, is a great idea though - I think they would really like that - great suggestion, thank you!

Some one mentioned on another thread that it's the "long night of the Museums" this weekend. Which means that museums and (and here is my stolen tip) the Zoo, (which has an enclosed rain-forrest section) will be opened at night so you could check out the nocturnal house.............. at night.

I've now put it in as a Travel/Day Trip Thread, as someone else might be interested. I've added a couple of details in English as the whole site in German. You could do the Museums overnight, sleep twenty minutes in the train to Wädi...
