| | | HELP: My skin tone is transparent!!
Ok guys, here it goes. My skin tone being deprived so many days from the sun, is getting a frightening transparent color!!! So I wanna ask you all if you know of a tanning salon here in Switzerland. I have NEVER done this artificial tanning and yes, there are a bunch of scary correlations to it. (Ross in "Friends" (LOL), scary movies that girls get trapped in it, ok and more "scientific" things as a bunch of articles out there stating that is is skin cancer in a box...as much as there are that Nutrasweet makes you forget stuff, and Red Bull...etc., etc.)
This is not the point of my thread. The point is I have decided to try it out and I just want to know if anyone has ever gone to a tanning salon that could recommend it to me.
Thanks a bunch!!!

I got sunburnt yesterday walking around the onion market in Bern...then it hailed
Freezing and Sunburnt in the same day...welcome to winter (well, almost...)
My Dan's in the skin business. Don't use solariums, or sunburn. Accept your skin as it is...skin cancer is not something to mess with, and the leather-look at 50 ? No thanks...
However, for Vit D reasons...it's a good idea to get 10 minutes of sun on your face and hands/arms most days...

When I am looking a bit pasty I put on some fake stuff - although not to the point of the 'you've been tangoed' look.
I use a Garnier spray one, you can buy in co-op and many other drogeries. After I spray I rub it in with a mitt I got at the Body Shop - stops orange hands and streaks. The tan comes out natural and streak-free.
Stay away from sunbeds, like it was said before, cancer isn't something to mess with.

Just try 5 minutes first in the sun bed of your gym or fitness centre and see how your skin takes it. At least you get your necessary dose of Vitamin D and won't feel like slashing your blue veins with a bread knife in this weather.
Good luck.

You can buy gradual tanners (not the brown juice to make you look orange favoured by Chavs) but I think L'Oreal do a good one and the other is by Dove. You apply it over a week or so and you are supposed to look naturally sunkissed.
Alternatively get stuck into something which gets your blood pumping and gives you that rosy cheeked look. You never know, you might find a blood pumping activity which gives you a twinkle in your eye, too... |

Post something about religion, smoking, god, rudeness, "swissie" and wait to be flamed to a nice crispy black...?

Boots No.7 for Men and Clarins for Men do very good 'tan look' face creams. I use them both.
As for tan shops - we have them on almost every street corner here in Basel .... wonderful things!

tanning beds are high-intensity light - not the same as 5 mins outdoors... http://www.salonsinboston.com/articl...afety-tips.htm http://www.aeinstitute.net/institute...r/dangers.html
I've been in a lab where they test sunscreens. They had lamps that emitted the same UV exposure in 5 minutes that you would get if you sat in the sun for 3 hours without wearing sunscreen.
My skin starts to burn in 10-15 minutes in moderate sun, and I am not considered to have the most sensitive skin...If I went in the sun for 3 hours
Oh yeah, and we also had a test subject come in who was keen on tanning - and when we tested his sensitivity to UV, he had extremely high sensitivity to UV light - it was like the tan was just painted over the top - the brown colour was preventing him from seeing how red he was underneath....
Darker people seem to burn more slowly than lighter-skinned people, but it's not the colour of their skin, it's some other factor...you can have dark-skinned people who burn easily, and fair skinned people who don't burn so easily... that's what we 'discovered' in our lab work...
Tanning more won't make you burn any less either...

There's some fancy new tan salon called Mystic Tan in Zurich, where they fire Faery Rays at you for 5 mins and charge CHF55.
No link, you'll have to Google it. Healthy alternative to skin cancer, allegedly.
20 minutes on a bike each day keeps the healthy glow
Ps, most tan salons - and nail salons - are mafiosi money-laundrys. Consider that before feeding them CHF5 coins | |
