i hate winter. Not only because of the cold (I tend to pull muscles in my back when it gets too cold) but also because everything looks so black and white, all color seems to have gone |

Spring is definitely my favorite season !!
SPRING
By William Shakespeare
WHEN daises pied, and violets blue,
And lady-smocks all silver-white,
And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue
Do paint the meadows with delight,
The cuckoo then, on every tree,
Mocks married men, for thus sings he:
'Cuckoo! Cuckoo, cuckoo!' O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.
When shepherds pipe on oaten straws,
And merry larks are ploughmen's clocks,
When turtles tread, and rooks, and daws,
And maidens bleach their summer smocks,
The cuckoo then, on every tree,
Mocks married men, for thus sings he:
'Cuckoo! Cuckoo, cuckoo!' O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.

Summer, summer, summer... days last longer, the smell of BBQs and fruits, holiday season, beach, in all many of the best times I had were (and still are!) in summer. Only six months to go! |

Being in the sunniest canton, we get plenty of winter sun. And even if you're in the fog-shrouded Mittelland, go up the mountains and there's loads of sun. The skiing seems almost a side benefit :-)

There is probably only one reason I would ever leave Switzerland - the winter season from October until April. (minus a week on the ski slopes which I really enjoy)
If I could afford it, I would love to spend 4 months during this time in sunnier climes. Then life would be pretty perfect. Once our son starts work, maybe it is possible. Money coming in instead of going out. I would be able to take 2 months unpaid leave.

I really don't have a favourite season as I love the changing seasons. The winters are not as severe as the ones I experienced in Canada, and the summers are not nearly as hot as those I endured for many years in Asia. I think it would be boring not to have all the seasons.

My ideal year would have half a month spring, one month summer and ten and a half months winter. |

All four seasons have their glamour and life would have been too dull without having varied them all.

| | | Re: Which is your favourite Season in CH From a fragment of parchment found down the back of Shakespeare's settee:
The time of year what I love the best
(Better than Winter an' all of the rest)
Is the one that falls before Fall:
When yeoman's codpiece and lady's shawl
Lie bereft in trunks and drawers
(A man has a trunk, a lady drawers,
Lest thou thinkst I might mislead thee)
And a chap can sit himself under a tree
With his mistress, his dog and a flagon o' sack
(We're still in the past now, we don't yet have crack)
The sunshiny rays his joy to behold
Sure, sap stark risen, to make a chap bold
To invite his dear mistress to come take a peek
And get for his troubles a slap on the cheek.
Come to think of it, I made a mistake:
The summer's no better than a piece of old cake.
Give me the Winter, when snow on the ground
Ensures that thy mistress in thine arms can be found
Snug as a bug in a peddlar's bag,
Ready and willing and up for a (fragment ends here)

I love the fact that Spring goes on so long in Switzerland due to the altitude variations. In the mountains Spring goes on well into July.
All the seasons have their great points. For me as long as it is not too hot (over 30C) or too wet I am happy.

Wonder where in the world fulfills my dream!? | | | | | Hmmm, sounds like Perth
Though in comparison to Switzerland it is more like: 3 months Spring
6 m. Summer
3 m. Autumn
0 m. Winter (lets skip that one)

Talking of summer in Perth, Yokine, it was 39C on NY day and high 30s since with more of the same to come. Give me Swiss weather any day......looking forward to when I get over there.
A little snowflake now would be so welcome.

Pam from Yokine, Perth! | | | | | hmmm... I just returned to CH about 2 hours ago and I would be ready to leave again after having seen the snow and cold here. Weather forecast for Zurich is again zero sunshine for all of next week | |
