I think Sutter mentioned 'sweetie' as well in another thread to refer to sweets. So does my other half, who is German. Is this a Swiss and German thing? I'm curious how it came about.

learned it in England. | | This user would like to thank raincookie for this useful post: | |

The 'chräje rüefe' is the same as 'chörble' or politcally correct 'ha müesse umegä'..........for the opposite movement of swallowing....

Even worse than that was when my brother-in-law suggested a trip to the gym :
"Goemme jetzt go fitte?"
Or what about the Chinese Swiss-German phrase :
"Chung Hung gang Hei!" which translates roughly as " Come on little doggy, you must go home now!" |

| | | Re: Swiss German word of the day
I heard a word many times at work and wondered if it is specific for my company or widely used in Switzerland:
"mutieren": perfect High German for "mutate", but used as "change" in the sense that a customer changes his order or contract details. I heard this from several people independently, so I should get used to it. However, I am still surprised every time a colleague tells me that "your customer just mutated"....
