Can anyone recommened a dentist in Lausanne area - i have searched the forums and found many for Zurich, but thats a little far away.

My husband has a few teeth in need of repair...

several there part of some guy with a spainish sounding name. Is is Carlos Madrid or something polymed clinic? its been a while since i've been there in lausanne, but while i was using them i had no problems and they all tended to speak okay english.

but as you are so close to the french border there it would pay you to nip over to annecy or somewhere close near by geneva for a significant reduction in price.

Cheers guys - we did wonder if we should just go to France - seeing the prices quoted are so high!

get a quote in lausanne and bring it and all the gear with (X-Rays etc, they _ARE_ yours you paid for them!) you to a french dentist and compare. to the best of my knowledge if your actually time is not that expensive the trip over the border will save a lot of money.

getting a recommendation for a french dentist might just be as hard as you are seeing for Lausanne though!

don't forget though, if you see a swiss dentist you have to explicitly tell them within a fixed amount of time that you are NOT going with them for treatment. otherwise they will expect to see you and bill you heavily for not showing up. the dentist should make all this clear, especially for significant work.

It's also wrong as far as I know. You can change dentists at any time.

But like all doctors they charge you if you make an appointment and don't show up.

I think that is fair enough - aftre all they are losing money - but I assume they cant bill you if you havent even made an appointment

The health system here confuses me no end

You can take an appointment and if you want to cancel it any time, you can do so before 24 hrs of the appointment, for example, if you have an appointment tomorrow at 4PM, you can cancel it today anytime before 4PM. If you cancel later than that, you need to pay.

sorry, let me clear up the confusion and relay a personal experience:

I had a quote for some work to carried out at a dentist in lausanne. it came to a significant amount. they nicely explained to me that I was well within my rights to go and get a better quote elsewhere if I wished: take the offer/details I had, X-rays, etc with me and see how I got on. but as as part of the deal he told me that i should reject his offer formerly within something like 4-6 weeks or he would assume I was accepting it. if I then didn't show they would charge me for wasting their time.

this is a few years back and the 'rules' may have changed.

I would suggest that if price is your major concern, please don't waste your time or a dentist's time in Lausanne. Ask the question (or do a search) for dentists in France right away. It is certain that dentists in France will be less expensive, so why not go directly.

If your husband has a lot of work to do, there might be even better options in Hungary. I saw someone advertising this on another website. If interested, PM me and I will look for it again.

This in my opinion is not a common way to offer a bid, rather a reason to change dentists.

Thank you - I think he may need quite a bit of work doing - so we thought go and see a dentist locally - see what they say and then probably go elsewhere for what could be some major treatment

Not long arrived in Nyon area and looking for a dentist urgently. Have read the blogs, but still need advice, so would be grateful if anyone can recommend a dentist in Divonne area who speaks english. In lots of pain!

I have been going to this office for teeth cleaning by their dental hygienist (never by Dr. Brustlein herself) and wondering if I've been overpaying. The session usually lasts 10-15 minutes, and I get charged around 135 ChF. Is this normal? Does anyone have a recommendation for somebody else?
