Ideas for a rainy weekend

Still somewhat new to CH myself but have a friend visiting this coming weekend. Originally was looking forward to playing host doing outdoor activities but according to forecasts das wetter ist looking nicht so gut so at a loss. Any ideas what to do on a rainy weekend around Zurich/Luzern would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks!

The Transport Museum (Verkehrshaus) in Luzern is pretty good if you are into that kind of stuff.

A rainy weekend?

Apart from 48 hours of duvet action, the only thing I can recommend is this.

Everything else will be full of other people's children.

I guess it depends on what you and your friend are into.

If you haven't seen each other for ages, you'll probably be happy spending time catching up and Zurich has loads of bars and cafes where you can watch the world go by.

As long as it doesn't rain all day - and it never usually does, you can use the dry bits to wander round the old town and lake shoreline.

Same goes for Luzern.

Re: Ideas for a rainy weekend

Thanks for responses.

Was just scouting for ideas but interested to hear of any recommended theatre productions (english), gigs/concerts, art/watch/chocolate museums, indoor markets or activities like go-karting/rock climbing indoors. Essentially was hoping there'd be a Time Out guide of sorts saying whats on.

Fingers crossed weather holds up or at worst, only intermittent spells of rain!

Watch as much TV as you can or listen to your favourite live audio streaming radio stations.

Re: Ideas for a rainy weekend

I have the same problem, my best friend is arriving tomorrow from Iceland and the plan was to make a bbq birthday party by the Rhein... but oops, looks like it will rain...

But it's not that bad of a rain, maybe we will survive it with an umbrella (after all, rain in Switzerland would not qualify as a real rain in Iceland )
