Hey, you started.
Sorry, man. I admit I was out of line. Went a bit off the beaten path and I really didn't mean anything by it. And by the way, I've got to say, even though I might not always agree with all of your opinions, you sure do have interesting things to say and you know how to get the conversation moving. Regardless, hope you accept my apology...

I think it depends on the attitude one may have towards life in general.
I like the following definition of optimits and pessimist:
An optmist knows that life is not perfect, a pessimist discovers it every day.

It's all good...and I appreciate your input. What can I say, someone has to be the controversial one

Indeed.

So what do you love about Switzerland?
I love the fact that a guy can walk down the street and enjoy a cold beer on a hot summer day. Where I come from, that'll land you a $150.00 fine. And I love the fact that I can stoke up a fire in the woods next to our place and grill a sausage followed by a chocolate-stuffed banana left in the embers to melt. Once again, fires are reserved to National Parks. I guess what I'm really saying is that I appreciate the fact that the Swiss are easy like that and that deserves credit. Then, of course, there's the obvious... the history, the castles, the horizon as the sun comes up over the Alps in the morning and the list just goes on and on. I could write a book about all the things I love about this place. Thanks for asking, Dougal...

Yeah, you must be out of your damn mind. See where the tax money is going...?! To feed the 75% foreign population in Swiss jails? To provide playtsations, tv sets and carpets in Swiss jails...that's where my tax money is going?
Maybe some of it..but not all of it...Or is that 75% of "your" tax dollars...I mean is this a write off for you at tax time...let us in on it maybe we can save some francs at tax time...LOL

After having a glorious ride up Valle Verzasca today on my Speed Triple,I can say that I love the fact that noisy groups of Harley riders are a rarity here.

Switzerland has one of the highest pedestrian accidents in Europe.
Why? Because the roads are at altitude...?

I love the Odeon, and the charming young lady who thanked me profusely and wished me a lovely evening, merely for waiting to let her pass at the bottom of the stairs.

There are some really quite lovely people in this country.

Re: OK now tell me what you LOVE about Switzerland

This thread started when the forum was only 4 days old! I love the fact that I can stick my head under the tap and get blasted by a torrent of fresh, clean, great tasting, freezing cold water. In London I used to buy case after case of Evian so having it "on tap" as it were reminds me of Wonka's factory with chocolate on tap.

Re: OK now tell me what you LOVE about Switzerland

I've been here a little longer than a month. My first experience with Switzerland was in 1998 in Luzern and was a total disaster (more because of my situation than the country)... After a series of off and on problems over the years looks like I am here to stay

So far so good and actually really starting to enjoy it.. especially the family, weather/nature and my wonderful husband.

I have to also give a big thankyou to EF... very wonderful source of help and information for newcomers. Thanks guys!
