Adapting a gas fitting on a BBQ -- Basel

Hi! I have an Australian gas barbecue (propane gas). I wasn't allowed to bring the gas bottle with me, and wouldn't be able to fill it here anyway. I've discovered that the gas fitting on the local gas bottles is not compatible with my Australian gas hose that connects to my barbecue. Similarly, Swiss gas hoses (which of course fit Swiss gas bottles) don't fit the connector on my barbecue.

I contacted the manufacturer of my barbecue in Australia and they can't (or won't) help with an adaptor, or any advice.

I'm hoping someone here can assist -- does anyone know where I could buy an adaptor? Or recommend someone in the Basel/Basel-Land area who could replace one end of my gas hose with a Swiss fitting -- or replace the connector on my barbecue with a Swiss fititing? Do plumbers do this sort of thing -- and if so, what's the best way to find a reliable, gas-certified plumber here?

Hoping to enjoy a barbie while this great weather continues. Many thanks in advance!

This Thread any good?
Don't understand such things myself. Mr. L must have been some sort of Boy Scout as we always have to collect wood and make a proper fire...

Perhaps an ironmongers would have the bits - try Googling Eisenwaren Basel or use this site.

Thanks very much, really helpful! I'm still not 100% hopeful as I've already been to Jumbo, Migros Do-It and Pan Gaz and not yet been able to find matching bits. Strange how some BBQs from Australia will cooperate and others won't! I'll persevere, though ...

Sometimes you're better off at a good old-fashioned 'country' sort of ironmongers as opposed to the big names who have a 'set pattern' of things on their books. We used to have two around here, both sadly now both closed down, and they had an absolute fantastic variety of things the 'chains' didn't have.
