Ha. I think everyone has been wondering about these signs. I was thinking how stupid to make the ad with no address...I didn't have a clue where the shop would be (that was before I knew these ads were posted all over Switzerland and not just in Zug).
Whatever it is, it's crazy, but yes it seems to get everyone's attention!

my idea is that it's a new MacDonald's specialty coming. There's something in the style and in the diffusion of the ads that recalls MacDonald's to me...

Maybe the red/yellow colors?

It reminds me their strategy to catch the attention by "hiding" something, like this other ad, also very widespread here in basel (the one on the right). | | This user would like to thank psychodelicate for this useful post: | |

Some of the ones around here are open until 1 am.
Bit of a hijack. Why does McDonalds show a milk cow when advertising that all their beef comes from Switzerland? Do they have one for their milk?

Maybe the red/yellow colors? | | | | | I think the yellow is simply used to attract attention and the whole compaign could indeed be a way to show the impact of creatively designed placards, which are still cheap and attractive for smaller companies when compared to TV ads.
Not sure if the used model for the ad would be considered standard for a large company such as Mcdonalds. I know they've put cows on placards to advertise for their meat, which are certainly lovely to look at and makes them look like they had a close connection to regular folks, but that guy with the knife, beer belly and such a grin? For todays standards they'd certainly use a - let's say - more photogenic model if it was a serious ad. Looking at McD ads on telly or their restaurants, it doesn't really fit into their concept.
Oh and I don't support all the model hype around beauty, role models etc. I just thought they'd be more careful about these things nowadays. Although I wish they'd put more people on ads showing their natural beauty, which is of course in eyes of the beholder and not pressured through a gang of judges at model contest which is supposed to find the new look of the millenium every 6 months. But I guess business comes first as usual.

The font choice is rather unfortunate. I read it as 'New in town, HEPAB' (hepatitis B)

Well, they're all over Lugano as well. This is the info I've found on the RSI website: http://info.rsi.ch/home/channels/inf...i-kebab-1.html (italian only)
I'm afraid we'll all be disappointed when we find out what this all is really about, after August 17th...

Wow, a real Klingon!
As for great Kebabs, there is a Turk in a caravan opposite Rueti-ZH station who serves great kebabs. Always hot off the elephant leg, not festering in a warmer, and enormous quantities of meat (not for salad lovers). He is a total stereotype, a big barrel of a man with a thick droopy moustache, but very friendly, and he's been there years, so he must be doing something right.
Cheers
Jim

I saw yesterday on TSR1 that all the billboards are owned my a single company..this year there profits are down by 60% so they are playing a joke sort of a thing to attract companies to advertise. In a week or so they will "reveal" the joke.
Also in all the posters there is no address , url or telefone number...Just a knife and a model .......................
