I have recently noticed posters going up around Basel that show a portley chap holding a kebab knife with the logo "New in town Ali Kebap".

Can anyone shed some light as to what they are advertising.

It's the new Sloggis advert, I am planning to leave Switzerland for the next few weeks to avoid having to look at pictures of Ali in his shreddies!

Defiantly not, it would be a pretty stupid way to advertise a shop! Stick a fat guy with crappy teeth on an advert for a place to buy food!!!

I guess it'll be for some new healthy store opening up.

My guess is the SVP have switched ad agencies; what could be scarier than a knife-wielding Middle Easterner announcing his omnipresence?

I just saw these ads in Geneva today, too. Very strange.

The posters are all over Bern as well. I wonder if the cheesy look of the poster, which mimics most advertisements in the middle east, is MEANT to look like that or if it is truly a middle eastern consortium without the benefit of a first world aesthetic for their campaign...
