I've been offered a post doc training position (12 months) in UNL (Faculty of Biology and Medicine) which is funded by a Swiss-Greek foundation!
I really want to accept it, but how about cost of living? I found valuable infos in this forum about taxation, health insurance etc. Almost 25% will go to taxes, and approximately 200CHF/month for health insurance. A decent furnished studio will cost 600-1000CHF.
I'm trying to find additional funding, but do you think that I could make it with 40000? Any other in the same situation? I'm willing to commute or share a flat!
Thanks a lot
i'm also in research and the pay is about that. For one person who knows how to spend his/her money sensibly should be ok. Here in bern the personal Haus ( rooms which are furnished., have to share the T/B and kitchen) would cause about 400 SFr/month. Most universities would have housing facilities and they usually are nearby so no need to commute either. So there are 2 tips to save.
