Is there an equiv. of A and E here..or walk in centres...please excuse my lack of punctuation but one handed at th mo.

Hurt my wrist rollerblading today and fear it might need x rayed

I would guess the local hospital emergency room would be where you'd want to go, particularly if you're in pain with a possible broken bone.

thats what im after. am in glattbrug, zrh but no clue where to go....

There is a permanence center at the train station, open from 9am-10pm

Just checked the Kanton Zurich homepage.... They basically recommend you to call 144 to know where to go or to have the physician visiting you. They also give these hospitals as having an emergency service:

From Glattbrugg your best bet is either the walk-in emergency medical center at the airport (kloten - it's in terminal 1 I think) or the emergency room at the Bülach hospital. We've been to both - both are fine - whereby we've been to the Bülach hospital emergency on several occassions, and it's always quick "service".
My son broke his wrist a couple years back - shattered it actually, so there was no joint left - and the doctor at Bülch just so happened to be one of the best hand surgeons around - and he created a joint for him using hip-bone..... great job - he can even rock climb again.

Just an update for those kind enough to offer help. All is fine now.

I ended up at the Permanence in HB. Not a long wait and very professional. All spoke English which was a big help too. X rayed there and then. Follow up appointment the next day and then even sent for an MRI scan....just across the road from HB. A fracture was diagnosed and now in plaster for 9 to 12 weeks.

Obviously wish it had never happened in the first place, but really well looked after.

Thanks once again for the advice. You can probably tell from my first post that I was clueless about where and how to get it sorted.

Your health insurance will have 'recommended' centres to visit, give them a call so next time you'll know where to go.

Once, after getting knocked off my Vespa, I thought 'head to the Uni Hospital emergency room'. Doh. After nine hours of triage they eventually wanted to know what was wrong. The fact no-one even bothered to come over and see if my bleeding wounds were 'serious' or not, not to mention broken bones and blurred vision, made me vow not to go back.

I did though, another time, and it was equally slow. Wasn't any catastrophy in the city, just student doctors and nurses doing everything very slowly and with much discussion...

Next time I'm in the town centre, and need help, I'll go to my doctors clinic at Stadelhofenplatz. Immediate attention and no admin

I didn't know that the Unispital Emergency Room gets so unorganised or crowded sometimes. Normally there's a counter near the entrance that should make a triage. (From somebody who works there I know that they had the pleasure to deal with many 1. Mai protesters wallowing in self-pity...)

I never had any problems at the Triemli. I was delivered there and sometimes go to the ER for old time's sake.
