No problems with nudity at all but these things are a bloody menace to the nose.
Also what does any of this have to do with gyms ?

| | | Re: no privacy at the gym
We always had "open" changing rooms at school, at the local swimming pool and at the numerous sports clubs I was a member of throughout my entire life.
I don't see this as en English thing, certainly not amongst males. Most of my friends go to the changing rooms to shower and change, not check out other men.
We went to a hot springs in NZ last autumn and the changing area there was just one massive room with showers around the wall. Even the doorway was pretty open and walking past people could clearly see in. But why worry? You'll never see most of these people ever again, so who cares what they see/think, etc?

It's not just at the gym. It seems ding-a-lings are being flauted here in night clubs too. Just noticed this poster today......

For some reason the doors of most American toilet stalls start at your knees and end right below your nose. No idea why that is ... | | | | | and the lock doesn't work.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but there was no point in starting a whole new one. However, I felt the need to share this and ask if it's normal...
Personally, I don't love sharing my naked body with everyone else in the gym changing rooms but I don't mind that much if it's necessary (if there are no cubicles etc... although I don't flaunt my nakedness gratuitously like almost all of the other women seem to do!). I accept that it's the norm here and I'm perfectly fine with it. What I'm not cool with is a girl changing her feminine hygiene products in the middle of an open changing room. Surely this is not normal? Nudity, yes. Soiled sanitary towels being displayed for all to see, no. Right? I was just so taken back by it, I thought I should clarify whether or not I should expect to see it again. | | The following 4 users would like to thank Kamarate for this useful post: | |

Ewww. No.
I mean, I didn't come across this, ever! That would be as bad as pooping and cleaning your buttom in front of everybody.
There are some stuff that should be keeping private, really private.

I am a private person but somebody forced me to stick my nose in their affairs like this, they would hear about it from me, or the management.
Hell, I told people to wash their hands before they offer their poop on the gym machines handles. Some people just need to be told. Intimacy is not to be shared with public, online and offline, meh. It's not about how comfortable one feels showing this stuff off, but how uncomfortable those who have to look at it feel.
But ya know...there is some weirdness. She is probably going to eat her placenta when she has kids in some nutty ritual.
I did have a problem in gym a few times, you get guys who stare and pick up girls in gym, it's a special sort. Of guys, not the girls. I chatted once with the gym receptionist, telling her it makes me feel quite uneasy at times, and her answer was that it is cute and exciting, makes the gym atmosphere hip. Whatever.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm getting this kind of reply. I thought it might be in that "oh come on, we're all women..." category. But no, she was just gross.

You think that's bad? A few months ago I was kneeling down in the changing rooms at the gym I go to, changing my socks or shoes I guess, looked up and there's some guy blow drying his privates a few inches from my face I think he must have been in the shower when I arrived, since I hadn't seen him before then.
Now my question is, does one say "Grüezi!" in this situation, or what?
