Don't worry, the Bernese will work on this, I'm sure they will be really shocked that people walk slower in two other places in the world ... heres to being 32nd next year ...

Re: Brisk Walking

I find that hard to believe.

Copenhagen? People are just rambling down the Ströget, too many people and shopping bags to do otherwise.

Harare? Where would they be going in such a hurry. It's too hot to expend energy walking fast.

See above for Blantyre, seriously, in Malawi nothing happens quickly, especially not walking.

That article is what I classify as crap.

Gooner, the Bernese seem to take pride in strolling around the town centre like a bunch iof Milka cows on Mogadon, I swear there is no ryhme or reason to their meandering around.
Add a liberal sprinkling of click happy Japanese trying to get a picture of the clock at Zytglogge & the centre of Bern comes to a standstill.....

WhoOoOOoOooO Singapore is at the top spot. I can't believe it but hey ..... We are so going to take over the world.

Try walking through Bern town from 17:30 - 19:00, it's simply a bloody cluster f*#k madness.

I think it was not an exhaustive sample of world cities. National capitals seem to have been more likely to be sampled rather than other larger cities within the same country (e.g., Ottawa instead of Toronto or Montreal in Canada; Bern in Switzerland).

Re: Brisk Walking

Awesome! I don't have to start a new thread to laugh at people in Berne and their walking. We went for a stroll in the grosser Bremgartenwald yesterday and saw a couple dressed in sports gear with a pair of hiking sticks each. The Bremgartenwald is not exactly renowned for it's craggy, hilly landscape (apart from one hill, it's pretty flat) and they didn't look particularly crippled. It's not even as if they were walking fast, either. We were sans sticks, dressed in jeans and coats and had a pushchair and still kept about the same pace.
It's not as if they're the first we've seen either...
Why?

Re: Brisk Walking

Do people from Scandanavia walk differently to us, then?
I may be missing something...

Re: Brisk Walking

Yep Nordic Walking, why not? i haven't done it myself but if it gives people a "hobby" and an outfit to buy, so they feel they belong to some defined group, what the hell! If most people take a look at all thier discarded sport equipment they have hardly ever used............
Are we any different?

P.s i think Zürich has no mention because it is not a capital city.
