Just wondering, Apple have delivered me an iMac instead of a set of headphones. I've called and they don't recognize even the serial no.

The packing list reflects my original order, but not the IMac I received.

There are no arrangements yet to take it back....

What would you have done?

Has Christmas come for me this year? Outlay $100 for $1200 item.....

Also, when they come to stocktake, they will be missing a comp, and some poor person will be responsible, thereby ruining their Christmas.

As an honest, upright and law-abiding citizen I would sell it or keep it for my own pleasure.

When the headphones arrive at the place the iMac was supposed to go to then there's going to be a big complaint and they may well be able to trace the iMac back to you.

You did try calling them though...I would just make a record of when you made the call etc...

Good point but in the meantime instead of using the iMac to watch porn use the iMac to rid yourself of any guilt by posting meaningful discussions on EF...

The OP has already called, and given them the S/N, which they can not find.

He/She attempted to get in contact with them, and since it was their fault, and it is not the OP's job to chase them, I would put it aside, and wait for 2-3 weeks for them to come back and if they dont come back, -> congratulations with your Imac..

If they didn't do anything to correct the mistake after you called them, I would consider it to be an early Christmas present.

I don't think that they swapped two orders. They just had a person on minimum wage somewhere in the third world manage your order. Not your fault!!

As the others said: I would inform Apple, but it is not your job to do anything more. If the underpaid guy in the call center could not care less and does not really feel like looking up if this iMac is missing somewhere, I think you have done your duty.

Put it aside for some weeks (for example till Christmas). If they do not call back and arrange a pick up, simply keep it. Write down when you called them (you potentially do not have the name of the person you talked to?). That should be it.

If they streamlined their processes so much that nobody has the time/gets paid to solve unusual cases like this one, you simply have the benefit for once...

I have a pair of brand new Sennheiser earphones.

However I now think that I would like to give them to some one free of cost.

Its only fair that you reciprocate the offer with your brand new iMac.

Keep it and if they ring you up and ask if you've got it tell them you have some headphones and can show them the order.

No one will get a kicking back at Apple HQ. Items get lost, its jsut business.
