I am flummoxed. Where does one buy empty gift boxes? I know they must exist because every store sells rolls and rolls of gift wrap. Do the Swiss just wrap their items without boxes?

I finally resorted to buying a pack of five cardboard document storage boxes in the Migros Do-It which worked out to less 4 franc per box but they look kind of ghetto.

Any suggestions?

Manor's paper department has got gift boxes of varying sizes.

I buy them (and gift bags), too, because I can't be figged with messing about with wrapping paper and sticky tape.

Have you tried the Christmas market in Lausanne? It was lovely when I went there a few years ago in the Old Town, although it didn't seem very big.

I just remembered I bought a set of really nice colourful circular carboard boxes at Ikea. You buy a whole set of them in the pack and they are all stored inside each other like Russian Dolls. Actaully they are so nice that I haven't used them for presents but for decoration.
It was a few years ago when I got them and I can't see them on the website but they may have something similar but probably only worth looking if you are passing an Ikea.

Manor has a good range (mainly plain coloured) - there are also some in Papeteries - there is one opposite Globus on Rue Centrale... Happy wrapping!
