Swiss things??

Ok I know its a bit tacky but for my sons christening cake I'm thinking of getting it decorated with a "swiss" theme (the christening is in Scotland). What things does everyone think of when someone says Switzerland - cows, cheese, chocolate? What else?

Or if anyone has any better ideas for the cake please let me know!

Thanks

Sharon

Re: Swiss things??

Ok - thanks for clearing that up

I may avoid putting airplanes on it as I'm finding them very stressful at the moment as my husband claims he's got to go somewhere on business and I have to travel with a 9m & 2 year old on a plane myself... I'm sure everyone on the plane is fighting to sit near me..... :-)

Re: Swiss things??

My friend (an avid climber) had his wedding cake shaped as the Matterhorn.

Probably a bit elaborate for a Christening though

The inscription on the cake will surely be in Helvetica font ...won't it?

Was that whole thing cake?? I had thought about a little mountain (you know what I mean...) with a swiss cow beside it and having the swiss and scottish flags flying from the top of the mountain? Probably also have a little toddler with skis on (seeing as how the kids are going to get lessons soon and be better at skiing than me - but then again most people are!)

Is that the font that you get on the side of buildings here?

I'll have to post a picture of this cake.......

though maybe a little boy in a porsche would be better? Although I don't know if the people who've not yet visited Zurich will get the joke?

Re: Swiss things??

Don't forget edelweiss and gentians next to the red flag with a white cross and some mini cow-bells. It all depends how big the cake is going to be! If there's room you could add some thistles. Have a great day!

I went to a wedding last year where the groom was also an avid climber... they had a conventional cake but with a little model man complete with ice axe etc. scaling the side of the cake!

We had a chocolate wedding cake. What does that say about my missus?

May I suggest looking at our site? We stock the Swiss Cross and Edelweiss cutters, Swiss Red roll-out icing.... etc. etc.
