The standard of journalism at the Beeb is pretty shocking... this is not a Testarossa!!! | Quote: | | | | The tycoon was reportedly driving a Ferrari 57km/h (35mph) over the limit

"Before the court, the millionaire stated that he is a diplomat of the
Republic of Guinea-Bissau, claimed diplomatic immunity, and demanded
an acquital. The court did not recognize his diplomat status, however,
since he could not show any diplomatic accreditation."
And I just learned a new word: "Verkehrsrowdy"
.

| | | Speeding in Switzerland...woooo
In addition to above, Information on drivers from France and their cars involved in routine traffic violations will be easier for Swiss police to access thanks to a new agreement in place since 1 January. The Paris Agreement on bi-national police cooperation simplifies procedures for mutual cooperation, without either of the police forces having direct access to the other’s data base of drivers licences and car registrations, however.
Swiss police will henceforth address their inquiries to the Federal Roads Office (Fedro) which will channel requests through Eucaris, the European Car and Drivers Registration Information System, a European-wide information sharing system.
A similar agreement has been in place with Germany since 2006.

What a knob. Thoroughly well deserved. | | | | | Should be made to swap his shiny red Ferrari and restricted to a Smart car.
In pink.

What a tool!!! Not a big dent in his wallet....they should of taken the car!!
Im not the slowest driver but I do not speed in the cities. This guy doesnt realize how easy it would be for some kid to run out in front of his car or even an elderly person crossing in the zebra stripes.
This just goes back to my thoughts on society today and how so many people (I wrote many....not all, before people start groaning) only think of themselves especially when they get behind the wheel of the car and have that "get out of my way" mentality.

The 559 costs about 299k chf, so the fine or the car, same thing really, all though it might be harder to get a new 599 to replace it.
And calling it a Testarossa? oh dear... journalists should be made to confirm their cars with the right people before putting it down in ink. Yes, it's a pet peeve of mine |

Story made it across the tlantic, with some interesting international comparisons in Europe slapping rich with massive traffic fines: | Quote: | | | | GENEVA -- European countries are increasingly pegging speeding fines to income as a way to punish wealthy scofflaws who would otherwise ignore tickets.
Advocates say a $290,000 (euro203,180.83) speeding ticket slapped on a millionaire Ferrari driver in Switzerland was a fair and well-deserved example of the trend.
Germany, France, Austria and the Nordic countries also issue punishments based on a person's wealth. In Germany the maximum fine can be as much as $16 million compared to only $1 million in Switzerland. Only Finland regularly hands out similarly hefty fine to speeding drivers, with the current record believed to be a euro170,000 (then about $190,000) ticket in 2004.
