I am looking( for quite a while now ) for a good beauty salon (with reasonable prices if possible) in Basel;and here i mean a salon where you can have facials,massages,waxing,cosmetic stuff... not hair dresser (thanks God ,these ones are everywhere)!
Could somebody recommend me one that you are probably using yourself?Many thanks!!

There is barryinc, he does wonders with hair, he is also an EF member, He is usually booked so better contact him in advance. As for other services I love pureaveda, you can check them up on their web page www.pureaveda.ch, I absolutely recommend them.

EDIT: I am having a 5 hour treatment on saturday and have used pureaveda before...

You are welcome, as for skin types, I know they use different products for different skin types (in the body treatments/facials etc) so I would not worry about that. I am getting the anti blemish 1 hour facial and some other stuff on saturday...will tell you how it went!

recommend Pureaveda - have been going there since they opened for hair and beauty (more nails than anything else) but had a fab massage there a few weeks ago. Also get a 10% discount if you are involved with any of the big firms in Basel (can't remember all) and also ISB and SIS schools

Last Monday i called this beauty salon,which you guys have recommended,and it seems that they don't do any facials... but body massage,hair, nails,etc...,but the guy said they are planning it for the future.

I've been to Aveda yesterday for a hair cut and I don't recommend it at all!
The hairdresser didn't even look at me, he was worried because the desk lady was arranging some appointments for him and he didn't agree, so he was always looking towards the desk. It's not a nice feeling having a guy cutting your hair while watching somewhere else.
Then while he was cutting I repeated: Please, not too short! And he answered "Don't worry". Result: I have very short hair, a sort of Victoria Beckham hair cut, which I HATE. Plus, I have red lines all over my (now naked) neck because he repeatedly cutted me with the comb, since he was distracted and brusque (not sure this word is correct in English).
All of this (+ color, that is actually nice) for the moderate price of 290 chf!

Barry inc is much better and professional. I was in a hurry and couldn't wait to book an appointment, but I'd recommend Barry for hair cut and color.

THere were three very cool, very stylish basel ladies in my Visagistin course (beauty school ) Michelle, Nasli and Rosanna. They are primarily hairstylists, Rosanna does the best manicures I have ever seen and they are awesome at make-up as well, and all work in the same beauty salon in basel that is run by Michelle. The place is called Kopfwerk.

Has anybody used the John Valentine beauty treatments(i mean facials) in Aeschenvorstadt?
The other day i was walking by this shop and i thought i could try to get some info about the procedure of this treatment. The woman there seems to be very nice and friendly, even she doesn't speak great english,so i booked an appointment for next week (even i didn't understand what/how products she uses).
Now i'm getting a bit worried by reading these messages from you, and i realise that even we are in Switzerland and we pay a lot more than we should for these services...it is not to a good standard.
Shall i cancel my appointment now?

I have seen your adverts around the forum and like to give my feedback...

its negative though.

I came about a year ago for a deep cleaning facial, the lady did a bit of eyebrow shaping and wax as well, after she did that she went away and came back with a colleague - odd i thought.

After the facial and getting dressed again i looked in the mirror and i had a large amount of skin missing on my forehead from the wax. Obviously i wasnt impressed and the reason for the extra visitor became clear.

i experienced no apologies and a general lack of concern from the person on the reception and the person who did the facial.

i had to put up with 3 weeks of looking like a cyclops

it was my second and last ever visit
