Re: Online shopping, when do you have to pay tax?

If useful for anyone, you can buy shoes online now directly in Switzerland (like on Zappos or Sarenza or Zalando) on www.koala.ch - this way there are no duties

Re: Online shopping, when do you have to pay tax?

I also order clothes form HK and out of this several times i was charged twice for tax ( even with different no. of clothes and amount) was charged the same price 46 CHF. this 46 CHF is almost half of total amount of items annoyin to think about how the heck do they compute for tax but nevertheless i still had a good deal because i can never have that number of clothes here in switzerland even if i pay shipping fee and taxes on top of the item cost.

I will have two packages arriving soon both from HK and will update u regarding the tax charge if any.

Jeanette

Re: Online shopping, when do you have to pay tax?

Hi everybody, I was wondering if anybody could help me too.

I just bought online for the first time (here in CH) and I have no idea how the tax is gonna be.

I bought only one pair of tennis shoes (Heelys), in a store in the UK. Price was 42 and free delivery.

I have a friend that told me she always buy things from the UK and if it's maximum 50 there is no tax in here.

Can anybody enlighten me here?

Tks a lot!!!

You should check the exchange rate, I think 42 is fine with no postage. You also need the invoice to show them if they ask.

Re: Online shopping, when do you have to pay tax?

Tks a lot for the answer!

I know they didn't shipped my order yet, so I'm gonna call them and ask kindly if they could declare the value and put it visible so the Post here doesn't charge me the fee of opening my package.

Tks!

Re: Online shopping, when do you have to pay tax?

Hi all

What happens when I go online to a EU site and buy a game that I then download? There is no physical delivery required.

When I go to the site and enter my Address, VAT changes to 0% instead of the local VAT of that EU country.

Since I won't receive anything in Switzerland, do I pay any other tax? Import taxes etc?

I am basically buying PC games from a EU site.
