| Bumping this thread up again because it's a worthy topic.
I've now tried both plain butter gipfel and chocolate gipfel at Gnaedinger, in Schaffhauserplatz and Steiner. The butter gipfel from Gnaedinger are indeed the best, whilst the nothing rivals the chocolate gipfel from Steiner.

I do love Gnaedinger, it's my favourite bakery as well. However, I have to admit that I am not a fan of their gipfeli. Although I recognise they are very, very good, they are a bit too soft for me, I prefer more crispy ones.
Does anyone have recommendations about where to find good crispy gipfel? thanks!
