I just wanted to share this discovery with those who enjoy eating as much as I do. Steiner, the bakery located beside the Migros at Zürich Flughafen, sells at several other locations around Zürich.

I don't have an interest in the company. Just think their chocolate croissants are the best I've ever had. Now I can simply walk down the road and buy myself some!

Mine's actually Teuscher. I'm nuts about the kirsch kugeln from there.

My new favorite's the bakery lady at the Wednesday Hauptbahnhof market. Nom nom!

I see Gnaedinger is a clear rival to my Steiner. I couldn't call myself a gipfel connoisseur if I didn't visit Schaffhauserplatz and taste one of their efforts.

I promise to keep an open-mind (although I'm sure Steiner make the best chococlate gipfel!).

Bumping this thread up again because it's a worthy topic.

I've now tried both plain butter gipfel and chocolate gipfel at Gnaedinger, in Schaffhauserplatz and Steiner. The butter gipfel from Gnaedinger are indeed the best, whilst the nothing rivals the chocolate gipfel from Steiner.

Try for yourself.

He is spot on, we have eaten those too and are the best around.

Can I hijack this thread to ask about favorite (favourite) bakeries for bread in Zürich? Have tried Kleiner (bread goes dry by the time you eat it and hurts my teeth), Steiner (bread okay, slightly less dry, love the Amaretti!), and bakery breads from Coop & Migros. So far my fave is - somewhat surprisingly - the Hausbrot from Migros. Would love to hear other recommendations for bread (any variety) that doesn't go dry and hard after a few hours.

I love the Steiner breads, St Galler Ruch (brown) or white, Val Maggia or Maggia Rustico are good wholemeal choices, all keep for a few days.

I do love Gnaedinger, it's my favourite bakery as well. However, I have to admit that I am not a fan of their gipfeli. Although I recognise they are very, very good, they are a bit too soft for me, I prefer more crispy ones.

Does anyone have recommendations about where to find good crispy gipfel? thanks!
