Re: ASOS.com... UK fashion + UK prices + £5 shipping to CH = good.

We buy heaps online...We have a My US address and buy heaps from amazon in the US, Ralph Lauren just about anything online. We use it especially for our son. We buy polo RL for boys example: $20US and here in ZH the same polo for 90 CHF!!!! My hubby also buys his polos, tries them on at Globus and then orders them online!

I am resigned to generic H&M and Zara stuff till I next visit the UK again. I miss Coast, Next and Gap *weeps*
Next also delivers here (subject to the usual import taxes/VAT charges) if you're desperate:

Yes of course there are people who will prefer spending hours in the store trying on the clothes and preening in front of the mirror.

But there are just as many people who are comfortable with their sizes to order online. Obviously you arent one of them and thats cool. I was just pointing out that there is a huge difference (and certainly NOT "not a few more Frs" - like you said) in UK brand prices here in Zürich which some of us arent too happy to pay - unless we are truly desperate.

So you are more than welcomed to pay much more if you are happy to do so. Dont take the phrase "do the Math" so personally.

PS: Sorry for the hijack - back to ASOS....
Yeah, totally off the topic about "comfortable with size, looking in front of the mirror, unless desperate"---what are you talking about? What's that for? sounds like you are very unhappy about people who don't do your way. Please calm down, really no need to get excited and imagin things.

So you are more than welcomed to pay little less if you are satisfied to only do online shopping. I don't take words personally, I only appreciate the right tone of talking.

I think your tone is a bit over the top and you probably did understand the post completely wrong: Lately we had a discussion here on how difficult it is to order online with the different shops using different sizes.

Confused about UK shop sizing discrepancies - need advice

I believe summerains comment was not about desperate fatties or something... (otherwise I'd give her a green blob for being evil )

Re: ASOS.com... UK fashion + UK prices + £5 shipping to CH = good.

i think one of the problems is sizing inconsistency. how hard can it be to all measure correctly and on the same scale?

i have some jeans which are 28" and others labelled 30" which are the same size!

online ordering works well when you know the size. i used to order all my shirts from charles tyrwhitt and they delivered to my desk and i knew the shirts would fit.

there's more leeway with shirts. i think shoes and jeans are harder to predict due to inconsistent measuring and also stricter requirements for a good fit.

Most of the jeans I've seen on Asos are available in Zürich . . . Nudie, Acne, Surface to Air . . .

Which ones aren't available here?

Obviously, Asos is cheaper though.

One brand I can't find in Zürich is Norse Project, but that's not on Asos either.
Also there are no bcbgmaxazaria, erin fetherston, and Ali Ro shops in zurich, although bcbg and erin has shops in Geneva, but too far way and the limited selections. Their official websites don't do shipping to switzerland. Have to purchase on Nordstrom and ship them all the way from America! It would be nice to online-shop inside of US as a matter of fact, since free-delivery, low price, and big various brands of choices.

Fully agree - jeans can vary enormously in cut - one companies straight leg is another skinny - and vice versa. T-shirts in a certain size can vary from those with larger stomachs - to those with tiny shoulders (Fred Perry) - to a more muscular shape (A&F).

It is a minefield of variations that in my view makes online shopping a gamble not worth taking.

Lady, you got the utter wrong end of the stick with regards to what I was trying to say. Read back the posts and my point was simple: to each his own re our choice when it comes to online shopping. Some people just prefer doing online shopping due to the big cost difference, especially here in Zürich and KM dresses are a good example.

Not sure why you flew off the handle and I dont think I've been rude to you at all. If you were expecting sunshine, bunnies and smiley faces in every post, then you are barking up the wrong tree. I am assuming that you are a non native English speaker from your posts - hence the misunderstanding.

yeah will be interesting to see what happens with customs...
i was so happy to find out topshop started shipping to switz so ordered and then got stung with 27CHF customs bill (and I already paid the £5 delivery costs) so if anyone wants topshop stuff it's def best to wait til you're back in UK

27 CHF is only 16 GBP... if you don't order single items and instead order a good few things then it works out much better.

G-star ones etc do... a LOT of stuff costs 2x or more in CH, speaking from experience.

EDIT - And thats not even counting the shltloads of brands ASOS sells that aren't even available in CH. If you shop only in CH, then you are really limiting yourself.
Can you give examples of items that are double the price here in CH?

ASOS has some nice stuff. There are loads on line shops, even in CH.

G-star stuff is a good example... I got an awesome jacket for £110, it was 450 CHF in the Swiss shop. Jeans are also regularly 250-300CHF in the shop here, in the UK they vary from £60-£100 in the sale. Goi Goi is also much cheaper in the UK than in Manor/Globus. There are a fair few other brands too, and shoes are expecially good to buy if you know your size and shape (good shoes cost much less in the UK imo), but I can't be bothered (sorry) to go price hunting, im just speaking from what i've seen when out and about.

Can you link me to the good CH online clothes shops please? Would be interested to see them as I haven't found much till now.

I love Boden (www.boden.co.uk). They are a bit pricey but the quality is good and their clothes are (in my opinion) very easy to combine. Since my fashion sense is a bit, let's say, under-developed, I buy entire outfits from them. Saves me from walking around like a clown.
