You do hang out in flea ridden gin joints. The queue for the Gent's WC in many clubs in Zurich is always longer than the queue for the Lady's. Can't imagine why.

It's all relative, I guess. Most of my social circle hold down excellent careers, take recreational drugs and - until the end of the evening - make perfect sense and company. Much like alcohol users.
It would be very unusual to find a social gathering on a weekend evening anywhere where nobody had enjoyed several drinks and nobody ended up tipsy+.
Those driving or with kids tend to be more cautious about over indulgence, and rightly so.

The tear gas on Langstrasse last night after the Switzerland football victory wasn't due to the celebrations occuring at the epicentre of the Heroin / Crack trade, but the number of bevvied young men being rowdy. The crack addicts were also enjoying the atmosphere, in a somewhat ragged state, but still...
