Or perhaps it was just your group of friends | | | | | Probably about the same as the % of smokers. Yes, some of my acquaintances did coke too, along with a lot of others who you would least expect (my ex boss being one!)

IMHO - not everyone who tries LSD, cocaine, crack, meth, H - will have their lives spiral into addiction and crime.
Personality type matters
Upbringing matters
There is no sure fire way of knowing who will be an addict and why. What is clear though, is that at some point, when faced with the first opportunity to experiment with a drug, that person chose to try it. And that is applicable to alcohol, nicotine or anything else. | | | | | Yes, well said. These scumbags that take drugs, have people considered their existence ? Think of a tramp. When you see a tramp, whats he normally knocking back ? Kestrel maybe, or a can of Tennents perhaps. So why is he doing that ? Perhaps because it helps them forget some terrible event or an awful upbringing, perhaps it makes time pass, which if you have nothing to do all day is pretty acute torture in itself. So you see, people take drugs not because they started smoking a joint as a teenager but because life leads them there. So while it may disgust to see people openly taking drugs perhaps they are doing it for a reason more than they are complete and utter wasters.
Of course some people are complete and utter wasters and take them for fun - certainly MP's, Politicians, Sportsmen, Footballers, Vicars, Charity Directors and Mrs Miggins do, have no doubt. But they take them, like ciggies and booze in moderation - at a level they enjoy but don't turn into hopeless cases.
I'm afraid there are people that will take them all their lives and appear completely normal, and will go to their graves having been taking those evil wicked drugs in the bus queue, the dinner party, before the job interview and at home and though the very thought may send the Moral Masses into spirals of rage, I am afraid that's just how life is, and no amount of high horsing will alter it.

When people are using illegal drugs like that on a train it diminishes everyone's feelings of safety and security. It's not necessary to try to stop them, but I would certainly move to another seat or turn away. Gwendy said that the guy was poised to make a rude remark to her, so he definitely got the message.

Drugs in some cases provide temporary relief to the pain they are feeling but in other cases are the trigger for the downward spiral.

I don't want to get into a fight with him because I don't know - because he has taken something!! - how he will react and anyone who would do that in public is not going to feel "ticked off" when someone says something. He will just stand up, I am only 155cm and will tell me to F*** off and something other expletives for sure so do I want to get into a fight with this guy? No, even though I do hope that I would be able to defend myself but still. My judge of the situation and my instinct tells me in that situation just shut up and move or ignore and call those who are responsible for it. The police, which I did.

I am much more scared when there are a bunch of drunk rowdy Football supporters on the train. After 2 years in Switzerland, I'm getting used to the weed smoking in public, but hard drugging in public I find unappealing | | | | | maybe so but..... I'd rather be sat on a train with someone quietly taking class A drugs than the annoying noisy teenagers drinking on the trains on a weekend

Sounds like the lowest class to me. | | | | | Class A drugs that is how they are categorised (serious drugs ClassA) Cannabis used to be Class C not sure if it is B again now
Basically i'd rather travel in peace so whatever someone is doing quietly in the next seat fair enough but if they are banging the bins shouting and being rowdy drinking then no thanks |

I would much rather have a kebab or any other meat based dish, over any drugs that I can name.
BTW, I am actually fairly boring. Unless said drugs come in the form of Saki with Nigiri! |

| | | Re: Public consuming of drugs on S8 today | Quote: | | | | | I probably know one or two people out of a BIG group that didn't do weed before they tried something harder. | | | | | That's not really the interesting question. Most of them probably also smoked cigarettes, drank alcohol or even ate chocolate at some point before they got into hard drugs...
The interesting question is how many people who smoke weed actually move on to something harder. | Quote: | | | | | Until the market prices fall and there isn't a profit for the dealers and producers to harvest, nothing will change. | | | | | And this won't happen before we abolish those useless prohibition laws that have been nothing but a huge failure.

And where is there a list of currently banned substances?
I guess Switzerland was caught up in the pan-European Mephedrone panic?
