World Radio Geneva becoming World Radio Switzerland

All anglophones and anglophiles east of the Röstigraben rejoice!

The local Genevan english-speaking radio is currently looking at expanding to cover the whole of Switzerland, via the magic of cable and DAB.

The broadcast area will cover all of French-speaking Switzerland coming november, and will extend to the German part beginning 08.

Re: World Radio Geneva becoming World Radio Switzerland

When I can listen to 1000s of stations from around the world and BBC Radio 4 online - plus 50 or so via satellite, they have some stiff competition.

Pity they are not on FM where most people still listen...

Good point, but weren't many people complaining of the lack of a "local" English-speaking radio in Zurich? I think that's the segment they want to target.

Indeed, but radio by cable or a system that no-one has (DAB) isn't really radio in the sense of 'the wireless'...

That no one has just yet. I hear in the UK sales of DAB systems have overtaken sales of FM systems?

Re: World Radio Geneva becoming World Radio Switzerland

Hi, I'll be arriving in Geneva on 20th September and wondered will I be able to tune into the radio program on the AM radio in my car rental? I'll be hitting some of the party action for the Nikki Beach World Tour at La Reserve, then off to Lausanne, Gruyeres, Neuchatel, Montreux and Gstaad! So it would be very cool to tune into Swiss Radio in English. Also do you have a website?

Note: I previously lived in Geneva for 1 1/2 years so I really thinks it's tops. My dream is to move back permanently to Geneva or it's small town suburbs.
