Depends on where you live. I can put my garbage out in the bins whenever I want. Check with your local Gemeinde

You local Gemeinde may have a web site, which will probably include the rubbish collection calendar. Where I live, we all get a diary at the start of the year including all this sort of information (including when Christmas Tree Collection Day and Dangerous Substances Collection are).

Also, our building has a A4 page stuck to a door with the details.

Alternatively pop into your local Gemeindehaus and ask.

Many Swiss villages/cities have websites all with the same format:

no umlauts though use the ä=ae/ö=oe form

Garbage and recycling schedules are usually one of the many useful pieces of information you'll find there.

If you're in Zurich city your local Kreisburo will have a handy calendar that tells you your garbage pickup day, as well as when cardboard and paper recycling happens. If you have a bin/dumpster outside your place you can put your bag there anytime, but if you're leaving it on the street it should be placed there ideally only early the morning of pickup.

If you live in Zürich city you can create your full garbage collection calendar ONLINE.
Just put in your street name (Strasse) and number (Haus.Nr-Zusatz) pick from the choices that you want to know about (green garbage, garbage, newspapers, cardboard, etc) and it will come up with the results.
It is only in german though.

For example at my house they pick up the garbage (Hauskehricht) "wöchentlich am Donnerstag" weekly on Thursdays.

Also, you can use this website to get a free SMS reminder about, zuri-sack, Papers etc collections days in your area.

Our garbage here is NEVER picked up - every Commune/Gemeinde has different system- enquire at your Gemeinde. Your location is rather vague, so it's impossible to help you
