We live around this area and have noticed over the past two weeks two gliders continually circling above head at a relatively low height.
Now, I realise that this is what gliders do in general (circling on thermals and all that) and that the zoo is in a small depression, not to mention Sankt Margarethen hill, which could lead to good thermals, however, I and the Mrs are mildly surprised (not to mention the children, although their excitement is for different reasons) to see gliders flying over such a heavily populated area.
We've also lived in this area for 5 years and never noticed them before, unless, of course, a new aerodrome has opened up.
Anybody got any clue as to what they might be doing if not just hanging on the breeze?
