| | | big ugly spider in my room
Hi all,
I came today to see this big spider on my ceiling. nearly 3.5 inch spanning. Can anyone tell me the actual name of the bugger? tried finding on google but wasn't successful
I shifted in my new apartment 2 months ago. I dont have any furniture and its quite clean. all my windows were closed for some time.. only 1 was open had a net installed on it, still it managed to come inside. I've seen it before at my friends place.. is this common? and more importantly is it dangerous?
well its dead now .. after i took pics

I wouldn't take any chances, splatter the mother and find out what it is afterwards.

Simply put a glass over it next time, slip a piece of cardboard underneath and chuck him outside.
He just thought it was cosy inside.

Was there any green blood or a small rodent amongst the remains per chance? We ought to be told.

It's almost certainly not venomous and as Sky points out, just another of the beautiful creatures with which we share this world. I don't see any reason to kill spiders here, they're not the lethal types I'm used to from Australia.
Now this one, on the other hand, I'd think twice about sharing my house with: | | The following 2 users would like to thank 22 yards for this useful post: | |

He certainly looked well fed.... I suppose you might be worried
Arthur and his buddies might like to be poisonous, but the varieties here are too weak to bite you.
They're just wannabe's
Find his offspring ?

What are we even talking about this for? I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

That is the Swiss apple spider, so called becasue the adult apple spider grows to the size of an apple. Some say that the William Tell myth actually described a spider shot from the head of his son
The swiss apple spider is carnivorous, aggresive, poisonous and breeds really fast

It's nearly conker season so just remember to pick up a few and put one in the corner of each room. Spiders hate the smell of them and won't come in. Sounds wierd but it works...
Although being new to Switzerland I am assuming we have conkers out here and there isn't some silly rule banning you from collecting them?!

I'm usually alright with "creepy crawlies" but this is something else. Or is it actually a normal sized spider in a dolls house?
