| | | damn you hair follicles - how can you do this to me Over the part 6 month I've noticed that every time I stoop my head down to read a document a few strands of hair appear on the page. I think to myself, what the hecks going on??!! I'm only 35 and my father didn't start to lose his hair until he was well into his forties. How can my follicles do this to me – I feel completely betrayed! what did I do wrong? So now I keep thinking to myself, how much longer will my hair stick around before I have to go for a number 2 all over. Hair today, gone tomorrow.

My dad was bald by 20, I'm heading that way too, but it goes back and forth w.r.t stress levels.
Just be happy that it's not an official press release (rather an EF thread--greater impact IMHO) http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2010/06/0...-good-as-bald/ | | This user would like to thank Chemmie for this useful post:

I reckon my hair will start going around early 40's, that's when my dad started with the rear bald spot.. |

If you're dark, you'll get laid more. If you're white, my sincerest apologies.

[Hair loss goes through your mother's side. Common knowledge. But then most EF members seem to be lacking this.]

You're all sad losers; I come equipped with a full set of hair and keeping this thread ethnically correct, it's all in the right place and is color matched to perfection.

Anyhoo, there is genetic influence from both. The mother passes down the genes that control the number of androgen receptors in the scalp, which is known to affect hair loss, but there are also other genes involved, some of which don't depend on the sex of the parent. (ie can come from your dad)
Bottom line: unless both dad and gramps on mom's side kept their hair into their dotage you aren't safe. | | The following 2 users would like to thank seeingbee for this useful post:

Dad's still got a mop top at 68, only just starting to turn grey. Thankfully, as I'm a cracker.
But I'd shave it off if I could be as cool as The Monks.

I was a pate polisher by the time I was about 24 and my sisters husband was grey by the time he was 18 - which has run through his family for generations. So their son who is currently an innocent toddler faces being bald AND grey by the time he is 24!

I thought it was increased levels of testosterone which causes hair-loss?
The sexier the man, the less the hair?
Obviously based on years of practical experience...

As the scientists said, if you want to know the future, take a look at grandpa on mom's side.
It's a higher level of the male hormone Testosterone which causes the hair to fall out.... look at the bright side.
Anyway it has absolutely no impact on attractiveness
