A good tattoo artist will charge upwards from CHF 150.- for something simple like a Chinese symbol. Please don't get one of those, which leads me on to my second piece of information...
...having it removed will be from CHF 800.- upwards, depending on how many different colours it is. At least 5 treatments will be necessary and bits might still remain. Basic rate is CHF 36.- per minute of lasering and it seriously stings.

I have a tattoo thats just a bit bigger than a 5chf coin in the centre and then has tendrils of smoke coming off the top and bottom and this cost me 100chf
I went to a place in Uster and I would really recommend her. But shes booked out until February and already has a waiting list. But if you're still looking for the place to get it done then her details are below
Tattoo-Studio Franziska Aathalstrasse 36, 8610 Uster 044 940 20 24

I think that I will stick with the felt marker and biro.
I feel faint when ever I get a injection let alone a device that pounds a needle into my epidermis.

I was very keen on it a few years ago but chickened out | | This user would like to thank Meisie for this useful post: | |

Wouldn't look for the cheapest offer possible. Better wait a bit and save some money to engage a talented tattoo artist whose artwork will emphasize your personality. A well made, original and nicely placed tattoo looks sexy! |

If you are lucky and if it's small and not many colours. The time depends on which colours you have on the tattoo. Some are removed easier than others.
I had a 2inch square tat many moons ago and decided to have it removed. It was in black ink so was not considered a hard one to remove.
My tat cost £35 to put on but over £450 to remove (not completely) but enough to cover. As for pain, it wasn't as bad as having a tat. More like someone pinging you with an elastic band over and over.

Maybe consider this - when I had my tattoo done (that I am saving up to remove), my life was very different. For starters, I thought tattoos were cool and I never thought I would move in the circles I sometimes move in now. Thankfully my tattoo is not somewhere that a cocktail dress or evening gown would make visible, but if it did, I don't think I would be invited to some of the places I have been. Sure, there are ladies there who have tattoos but there is a great deal of pointing and tutting going on, unless it's a rockstar or something like that. The general assumption tends to be that she must be a) someone's rebellious daughter ("such a shame, such a pretty girl!") or b) "hired help", i.e. a prostitute. That may be terribly superficial but I'd hate to have something I got done out of whimsy to stop me from eating posh nosh with the high and mighty once in a while. I don't share those views, since some of my friends have awesome tattoos and are more straight-laced than my conservative self.
Getting a tattoo now is a bit like getting your hair done in a "Rachel from Friends haircut" - soooo 1996, but much more permanent. Why not get a unique piece of jewellery instead? You can take that off when you change your mind.

A bit off topic, i know, but those of you, who had a tattoo removed, how does your skin look now ? Is the tattoo completely gone with no evidence it has ever been there, or are there any scars ?
I know I will regret it at some point, and thats the reason, i dont have any, although i do like them. but if they can be removed with no trace of their existence, i may consider getting one.
Doc.

My thought regarding this is perhaps to try a " henna tattoo" (link to show what I mean) first - but absolutely absolutely make sure you are NOT allergic to the substance they use (generally more than simple henna and water) as otherwise you can wind up with a scar rather than even a tattoo.
As long as you are not allergic, the henna stain lasts for a week or three which should give you some good idea whether you actually will like something that will stay for a while.

I chose what I wanted and waited a few months until I got them to make sure. I know alot of people get tats and then later regret their decision (as many pointed out on this thread), but I asked myself the opposite, since I always wanted tattoos if I would regret NOT getting them. I made my choice and have been happy with it. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I've wanted a tattoo for a long time but I want it for me, not to show off anyhow soooo IF I ever get one, it will be someplace where it will be "easily" covered by either articles of clothing or else accessories.
A coworker of mine had a tattoo on her wrist which she covered with a watch when working - as we were supposed to have a professional appearance, it was not allowed to have tattoos visible. I think that is a pretty decent "compromise."

1) can we have a tattoo party? I'll show you mine, if you show me yours?
2) When tattoos are removed, what do they actually do? Like, there is a laser shot at your skin which pushes the ink upwards?? Or does it break the ink down for your body to absorb?
